I don't know if tomorrows meeting is about ownership or moving the club, but it got me thinking - there was a lot of fan uproar over the potential name change to Hull Tigers so what would the reaction be to any proposed move to Melton? I know it would make it easier to get to for those in the East Riding, travelling fans, and away supporters; but what about people living in Hull. I think it would be a kick in the teeth for the people of Hull who have supported the club for so long. People talk about what City would be without Allam, but where would the club be if Hull CC hadn't built the KC stadium? Personally, I think being based in Hull is more important than being called Hull City/Hull Tigers. Hull City should be based in Hull. If they did move out to Melton I would stop going. Not because it's more inconvenient but because it would be severing the ties with the City.
No Hull City have to play in Hull and I wouldn't go to Melton . He could call them East Yorkshire Tigers in that case I wouldn't care
Would it? I can't see it being easier for anyone but those in the south western side, the bulk would be further away wouldn't they?
I actually don't even know how to get to frigging Melton. I know it's out west somewhere, I once ran through it... It would make things very hard for very many. Imagine if you live in east Hull. Wouldn't be good.
I ave been an expat out of hull since 1998 I seem to remember that there is a railway stop at Melton. therefore bringing into the equation of rail transport to the ground area if City did move to Melton. Would that be an easy travel option instead of not going?
Suppose it would be like Boltons ground, easy out onto the motorway, if a tram or rail link was built, you could be back at Hull paragon within 10 mins
I see a lot of similarities between the rabid scaremongering and misinformation of the campaign of the ERYC to oppose the ‘considered’ boundary change and the past behaviour of our esteemed ownership.
Personally I'd love it, getting to and from matches would be quicker and easier. In the interests of the supporters and the club, it'd be a disaster. Hull City should stay in Hull, end of.
That's the point though - it wouldn't. North Ferriby would be the edge of "Greater Hull" - South Hunsley, which is the ward (or is it Parish in the ER?) where Melton is located would remain in the East Riding regardless - that's how far out it is. I can cope with moving around in Hull - but I support the team of this City - and if this club was in Melton, then it's well out of the City. It wouldn't be my club anymore. Especially when the KC is expandable.
Sorry about that - I was using outdated info - the article I was looking at was from June, and only included the wards bordering the current city boundary. When you look at the map though - it really brings home how far out it is. The boundary changes would bring them under the control of Hull City Council, but I doubt we would be able to say they would actually become part of the city. There are plenty of places in Greater London and Greater Manchester which claim not to be part of the City proper. Melton is just too far out to count as Hull for me. I do think this is all bollocks though. The statement is about "Future Ownership" - I will be surprised if it included anything about moving.
Bollocks damn and ****, well i will buy some land in Goole and build my stadium there, ****ing Hull City council bastards. Mr Dr Assam Allam
There's a place a bit further down the M62 with about 700k people, They don't really have a team - just some amateur outfit that's been lurking around the Championship/League One for the last decade. He might try there.
