Yes, i know im one of the lone voices who always liked him but considering the guy has never had a consistant run in the team he has made a decent contribution to the cause. He has 5 goals this season in 18 appearences, but most of them have been from the subs bench, i think his starts have been very productive though, including goals . Michu is twice the player in midfield IMO and the two players look like they enjoy playing together, i have not seen how many assists Luke has made this season but there are at least two that i can think of, point is that we look far more potent in the final 3rd with luke there than if its just Michu. I expect us to sign strikers in the summer ,probably 2 at least but i think luke should be given an extension to his contract if possible, he is a good squad player, works very hard in training apparently (ash says alot of very nice things about Luke in his book, including how he is mis-understood by many fans, the guy gives his best even knowing he wont play, that takes mental strength, ask mark gower) he wont cost us a fortune and we know he can do a great job for the squad, he is also British and that helps with the foreign player rule . What are my fellow Jacks thoughts on Luke Moore this season, like Routs, i think he has progressed under Laudrup even though he has had very limited game time. We all sung songs for and loved DG but luke has the same amount of goals with less starts! his intelligent play dove tails very well with Michu, and when he scored at was nice to see Michu seek him out and give him a big cuddle! it shows the mutual respect, something i never saw between him and DG . Does Luke deserve to start for the rest of the season and give him self a chance to earn a new deal ?? Thoughts ?
Id keep him, when he plays he usually offers us something, only 1 or 2 games i can think of where he hasn't had any sort of impact when used.
Oh look it's the Siamese twins I'm sorry both I couldn't resist In answer to the question........ ABSOFCUKINGLUTELY No doubt about it would I keep Moore. I want to see him in the team on a regular basis
As it stands our only other option is Shecter, unless you play Michu upfront, which doesn't suit him. Given those circumstances then Moore starts every game. As for next season, unless we can afford three top quality strikers and can keep them all happy then I'd hang on to him.
I think its fair to say that if he had been given Itay's games his goal tally may well have been higher, if he can get 2/3 goals to finish his season off then that would be a great return considering his minutes on the field. He is regarded as being very technically gifted and his touch and movement is a great foil for the likes of Michu. Im not sure but i think he has only started about 5/6 games this season, every time ive seen him this season he has looked a decent player and one that has looked the most likely to score out of Itay and DG . Take DG's xmas run away, when he needed to put himself in the shop window for a move ,luke has probably been the 2nd best striker, if he wants to be a back up then i would be very happy to see him stay here, we also have the euro league games coming up so the chances of more starts is very possible. Laudrup may well go for a set team like he did with the cup, giving the likes of tremmel and luke regular football,it could work quite well
Yep, I would keep him. I think the lad has bags of talent, and like others, would like to see him play now as our No 1 striker until the end of the season.
I'd say yes ,with nearly a 1 in 3 goal ratio is not bad, he always makes him self available and gets in to good positions .As a squad player he's probably the best of the rest and given a chance of staring regularly I think he could shine
I like Luke Moore. He's a classy player with a lot of ability and it's a shame that his laid back style seems to bely his talent. If he was more explosive he'd be a right handful but it's just not his game. I fully expect Michael Laudrup to recruit some serious firepower in the summer which might edge Luke towards the exit door. I hope that doesn't happen because I think he has a lot to offer. I'd like to see him given a run of games to find his best form and show his boss that he deserves another contract.
I dont think it is a question no one can really answer at the moment. For arguement sake, if we sign 1 striker then yes we have to keep him as cover. If we end up signing 2 quality strikers, i am not so sure. Moore is a good player, but, and dont accuse me of being big time charlie, should we not be looking for better quality now. So in answer to the original question, I don't know.
I would keep him. We created a ton of chances yesterday for Michu coming through from a deeper position. Moore is effective in his own way, can score with his head and has the ability to shoot from distance. Out of the three, DG, Itay and himself, he has combined the best with Michu. This means we don't play with the three wingers, but when one or two of them are off the boil then Moore and Michu are a good plan ABC... I forget which one this is.
It really depends on whether or not ML secures all his striking targets. If he does, I can see Moore departing. If ML doesn't, then I hope he would keep Moore.
Do you think laudrup is after 3 strikers though? He cant promise all of them game time can he, and I would question the ability and money spent on a player that would be benched a lot. Im sure luke aint happy about not playing regular. But the new players would be less so imo. It is very difficult I must say. Laudrup Will sign somebody as a number 1 but we need back up too. Who knowingly signs to a new club. Prepared to be back up?
I want 2 strikers who are challenging each other to be first choice as other good teams have. It is not a case of signing somone as a backup, who is prepared to sit on the bench. We have more games next year so more chances to impress.
That is the perfect scenerio trundle but in reality one of the first things a striker asks when signing. Is if they are going to be number 1 , if we pay £7m for aspas for example then that boy will start, the other striker wont be in the same price bracket as we cant afford to pay mega money at a club like swansea . So there is a pecking order. Sinclair played no matter what under rodgers. Dg played jo matter what under rodgers Borini came in and played efery game too. Many players wont sign unless they are going to be first choice. I must add that as soon as DG wasn't first choice he was gone .
I know it is, and we are not a big club, but we have to think that way if we need to move on and have some fun in Europe next year. We should be having a choice of at least 2 strikers who are both possibly first choice and challenging each other for a start. We have to move away from playing somone week in week out just because we paid a good fee for them. It appears and maybe i am wrong that ML will select on merit. (although did have my doubts about his ability to leave hernandez out.) We have 4 Wingers all playing for 2 spots. What would be the cost of them and how many other teams starting 11 would they all get in to. We just need to think a little bit bigger, I believe.
Hence why we're lucky to have kept tremmel . a very good keeper who would get into most PL/Championship sides without doubt. All players like to think they're indispensable ,look how Holt for example has behaved .last season being touted for an england callup , this season yesterdays hero and with the amount of recent cards he's been shown he won't be there long .The player has to have a certain why about them to be content just to be a squad player and again we're lucky with Moore in that respect .
Can someone explain the foreign player rule - I posted another discussion - can we afford for Luke to leave and bring in a foreign player - Ash leave and bring in a foreign player and still meet the rules? Benn advocating Luke as a starter since before DG left - if nothing else it make Michu even moore effective
Well the 4 wingers thing has only recently been that way and nathan was a petulent little ****er when he was getting left out! Proving how hard it is to keep everyone happy. I jnow ehat your saying but us signing 2 strikers will mean one will be a main signing and one a back up, that's my view on it. If the jumber 1 plays **** and number 2 does well then we get equal footing but not before then I reckon.
The thing that concerns me most is Laudrup's continued use of Shecter despite him being absolute gash, no to mention his use of Shecter ahead of both Graham and Moore early in the season, and targeting of Jamie Mackie to replace Graham when he left. His record in the transfer market has been generally very good, but those are worrying blind spots when it comes to forwards.
I heard the mackie one was more from the club. Than laudrup, along the lines of a list of names on loan till end of season and a yay or neh if intrested, laudrup was happy to go without but an extra body was ok if it gitted the budget, which it didn't. Laudrup imo is more concerned with keeping the money for the summer targets and he said himself in press conferences that The clubs and chairman cmoved the goal posts on him at the last minute. With some of his targets and he wasn't prepared to over pay to secure them . Shector is a strange one isnt it , I guess every transfer involves a bit of luck
