Sven has one year left on his contract and as I understand it any extension of this contract depends on him achieving promotion to the Premier League THIS season.

If Top left it up to you, would you extend Sven's contract now, or would you leave it until the end of the season and would you let Sven walk if we had a good season but did not achieve promotion?

.... yes. Not much better out there and really helps us attract players.

though maybe someone like warnock could do a better job getting us out.

The danger is that we extend his contract now, we don't get promoted and then we have to pay his wages for a lot more years on Championship income (which is being cut next season) or we give him a huge pay-off. So, I think this 1 year deal is good for all parties and Sven has almost admitted that the only way he'll get a new contract is if we are in the Prem next year.

Lord- he is a very good manager at this level though.

what i dont understand though is that i thought QPR had a load of money, does anyone know why he hasnt been given any to spend?

Don't care how good he is, he is a c*ck.

Owners are trying to sell and will not give him any $

This, if he hasn't got us up, then he has failed, let him walk, hes been given enough in transfer funds for us to finish in the top 2 easily.

I don't think it will happen though, because im hoping we can do a QPR and be in the top 2 for most of the season.

Once a (P) appears next to our name, i'd give him another 2 year contract.

    Good question.

Lets not beat around the bush, if he doesn't get us promoted this season he's not done a good job.

Then again, I can only envisage Sven leaving as a bad thing - if we are successful under him (i.e if we go up and establish ourselves in the Prem, perhaps going on some good cup runs) we would all be sad to see him go obviously. However, if he fails and we go in a different direction, we've failed. This is a massive chance to go up and I think we'd be worse off next season if we didn't. Bringing a new manager is a risk, you never know how they are going to do.

I'd like to think managers should only be sacked as a last resort - for example if they're taking a team down or have lost the dressing room/fans. I'm pretty sure Sven could only do as badly as midtable in a worst case scenario, and therefore in my opinion, shouldn't be sacked.

On the other hand, I don't think Dave Jones can complain about his sacking. Yes overall he did well for them, but they should have gone up about 3 times and his team bottled it every time. In that situation, I think it was just time Cardiff went a different way - sometimes that's just how things happen.
