Big game, big occassion, one of the biggest prizes in football at stake.

Everything points to a Saints win and i am confident of a saints win but would you have a back up plan.

Coventry are 10-1 to win on saturday at william hill http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/en-gb/betting/t/292/English-Championship.html

In the horrific event of us losing you could pick up £100 for a £10 bet on Coventry.

Is it dirty to bet against your own team, would anyone do it for a consolation or is it a waste of a tenner?

I've never bet against Saints and I never will. What kind of consolation would that be? I'd feel like the worst fan in the world.

A tenner wouldn't make up for the lose. Wouldn't even be a close consolation

On the plus side, can't remember seeing championship odds this one sided for a match before. They're not normally wrong!

You are right. Bookies are never wrong. Remember the 76 Cup Final. Man U were playing against some bunch of no hopers and the bookies offered 8/1 against the opposition winning. Even on the morning of the Final you could get the same odds on a 4-0 United win as the other lot winning (who were they, I forget). So, yeah. Bookies odds are always right. Bugger, wish I'd not remembered that.

don't waste the £1 on a bet on Coventry to win. Save the £1 for a razor blade for your wrists! The disappointment will seem so overwhelming, and the prospects of the play offs will seem even worse! I remember 5 years ago when the play off final was scheduled for my 50th birthday! The fact we missed out literally ruined my 50th and the day just seemed so flat! I could not bear that again.

However, I am 100% confident that Sir Nigel will lead us to the promised land on Saturday.

Told my son not to waste his money too. Honestly, if we lost, what would it feel like to collect your 'winnings'? I'd have to give it straight to charity anyway...could never use it for me.

I guess that everyone has their price. If they were offering 1000-1 then I would probably put £100 on because that would be worth it. 10-1 is a great price for a game of footy but to win an amount which would be worthwhile would be risking an amount which was significant.
The bet which would be worthwhile is where you hated your local rivals and they are in trouble. Say Sunderland were in danger of going down and you are a Newcastle fan. If they have a game at Old Trafford to stay up and it's 10-1 against, then why not. It's a win-win. Either your hated rivals are relegated or if they stay up, you are £100 better off.

I've got a few bob on Saints failing to win and West Ham winning. I could make money and still see Saints promoted so no guilt. Plus, I've been betting against them for most of the season with the odds in my favour due to Saints' strong position all season. I would have been happy with mid-table this season so it's all a bonus. I'll be disappointed to not get promoted in the auto's but there's plenty of other games and always next season. Betting money makes no difference to the result. It's just so I have money to drown my sorrows in the unlikely event that we screw up.

I wouldn't personally bet on them losing but Mrs Bazzra is going to put a tenner on it, her reasoning is if we win I'll be one happy man tomorrow and for the whole summer until Premier league kick off, but if we somehow lost the £100 winnings will go towards me drowning my sorrows.

They're good odds for a reason! You'd be wasting your money.

Already done it. On Monday I bet £50 at just over evens on West Ham to win. My thinking was if they lost or drew we were up, if not I had money to spend tomorrow. I won £55. What I have done is kept £25 and reinvested the £30 split between a Cov win and a draw. (£98 for the win and £43 for the draw - looks like crap odds now!)

So now I get a 'free' drink or two tomorrow and if the worst happens, I have my Play-off ticket paid for and a bit to spend at Wembley. If not I lose some of my profit, but I would have drunk the rest!

    So Win -Win!!!!!

Never understood the problem betting on your own club personally. You know better than most people whether it's going to get you money or not and it's not like it affects the result.

No, but how much money has to be on the line before you start hoping for your own team to lose?

I actually hate this thread! People just need confidence and forgetting about hoodoo's or consolation with a bit of cash that's all negative! The crowd needs positivity tomorrow so put it all aside! If it wasn't the promotion clincher we would have all pencilled it down as a win! We should go out tomorrow full of energy and wouldn't put it past us blasting 4 or 5 past Coventry! COYR!!!!
