I see Celtic have stuffed Rangers 3-0 today to inevitably take the SPL title.

The ex Cardiff trio of Ledley, Loovens and Matthews were all in their starting lineup, and good luck to them.

Just wondering - would any of them get a start for us at the CCS on Thursday?

Ledley might get the midfield sitting role, the other two squad players at best.

I was wondring if any of the Rangers team would get a start. Wages would be high, but we could be a vulture for a change.

    What goes around come around.

I'm not convinced any of them would get a start, Ledley probably on the bench.
It also illustrates the shambles that is Scottish football. Most SPL matches this weekend attracted crowds of less than 5000. If Rangers don't have a strong team next season the TV companies will offer less money, so what future is there for Scottish football.

Can't see Loovens displacing either Huds or Turner.

Matthews wouldn't put Macnaughton on the bench. He could be used right midfield instead of Lawrence, but I doubt Malky would start him.

That leaves Leds. Who do you leave out to make way for him? Gunnar, Cowie or Whitts?

The alternative would be to drop Mason and play a true 4-5-1 but I'd start Mason every time.

Agree with the above. Ledley would be the only one, but i wouldn't want to drop any of the current mid-fielders we have. But he would be good back up on the bench. Loovens only looked good when he played with Johnson, once Johnson left i didn't think Loovens was that good.

Matthews we should of held onto him when we had the chance, but again couldn't see him getting in ahead of Kev or Taylor.

I think Ledley has gone backwards since joining Celtic, with no hard games in their league it's made him lazy.

All three would not even get on the bench.

    This^

Ledley really should have gone to the EPL for his own sake. Think he'd have developed much better there.

if he's signed for stoke imagine where he'd be now? or matthews for instance, where would he be if he continued to develop here? we've played like 60 games this year so plenty of room for a player like him to get 20-30 competitive games, roughly the same amount he's getting at celtic as it happens.......<ok>

With the demise of Rangers, any player worth his salt will be trying to get down south ASAP.

Those who are willing to play in a one team league have very little or no motivation to succeed.

I was very sorry to see Matthew go. Rumours of an attitude problem didn't convince me that Dave Jones did the right thing. He was treated like a dog. I think he made a mistake in going to Scotland though. I'd like to have him here.

I would take both Ledley and Matthews back, however they would be squad players, Joe would probably get into the team eventually. But as said above the Jock leagues seem to be in free fall at the moment which is very sad, however the SPL has never been that competetive and lots of the teams are made up from youngters and journeymen. Look at Aberdeen's line up an this will prove a point. I can see 3 or 4 of their top clubs applying to join the English set up in the not to distant future.

The SPL is a very poor standard.

Most of the teams are League 1 and 2 quality.

Why Ledley went there I dont know.

Matthews im sure would still be here on a long term deal if it wasnt for our ex manager.

Loovens isnt as good as Hudson or Turner but hes better than Gerrard so id take him back.

On the contrary, i'm not the person spouting pish on matters where I have zero knowledge.

I need make no defence of any of the players mentioned because any criticism from Cardiff fans comes pre loaded with bitterness that Celtic could siphon off players from Cardiff with ease.

I doubt any of you have actually seen Ledley or Matthews play for Celtic, as for Loovens, he is a dud and is off hire at season's end, having played perhaps 6 games in total this season.

He is pretty poor player and I think his attitude is all wrong, so he will probably go somewhere where the expectation level is considerably lower than at Celtic, so you may just be able to sign him again.

Ledley in his last few games for Wales is a shadow of his former self. End of.

Don't want to get into the relevant SPL/Football League standards - until (if ever) the teams play each other over season long campaigns, it's only going to be down to opinions.

The standing of Celtic historically within the SPL and the old setup is not in question. The fact of the matter is that you and your neighbours have also been historically the "superteams" in an otherwise very poor league.

Many down here believe that if the SPL teams were integrated into the English pyramid, apart from you and your neighbours until recently, not many if any would survive in the Championship let alone the Prem.

These are the teams you're playing week in week out - no wonder you're looking down from the top of the table up there all the time.
