Apparently United are considering a bid for cabaye. Definitely a good option before Mata's arrival. But now? Not so sure. Jamie Jackson Manchester United are considering a bid for Yohan Cabaye, who is valued at £25m by Newcastle United, in the last days of the transfer window, though the champions face competition from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. The French club have had a £14m offer for Cabaye rejected. David Moyes' priority is to strengthen his midfield and, though Cabaye is not considered by the United manager to be in the highest bracket of player, the 28-year-old is proven in the Premier League and a France international who, it is felt inside Old Trafford, would help United's push for a Champions League place. While United would price Cabaye at less than £25m, the club's hierachy recognise that a premium will have to be paid to attract players, as was shown by their willingness to spend £37.1m on Juan Mata. PSG currently value Cabaye at far less than the asking price, while Arsenal had what Alan Pardew, the Newcastle manager, described as a "derisory" £10.2m offer rejected for the Frenchman last summer. Arsène Wenger, though, remains interested in taking him to the club. Moyes also retains an interest in the Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos and attended the German champions' game against Borussia Monchengladbach, where he was spotted speaking with Kroos's agent Sascha Breese, over the weekend. Kroos's contract expires at the end of next season and it is thought he would cost around £20m-£25m. Mario Mandzukic, the Bayern striker, is also being monitored by Moyes. Kroos absolute quality and would be great for United. But would he want to leave Pep and the European Champions for Moyes and Manu
Kroos has made the joint most appearances for Bayern this season along with Neuer and Muller d Would he play deep for United or in the no 10 role, he can do both
Totally different players. Cabaye would take Cleverley's place- akin to replacing some fat grot you woke up next to in Magaluf with Mila Kunis.
Cabaye would be an excellent signing right now, short term and ultimately long term replacement for Carrick and means Cleverly can leave. Sounds a good deal to me, Kroos/Reus can be looked at in summer, if needed.
Cleverley has been ordinary at best. If he improves the team or squad, why not get him? I think we should take a punt on Ben harfa.
Wouldnt be sure about that. Mata is a United fan. ( his own words before h went to Chelsea ). Matas dad secured him the deal and they wanted it done in the Summer gone before his place at Chelsea was stupidly taken away from him. Not saying he would, but he'd certainly be interested.
Many top players move because they didn't or thought they didn't have a future at their previous clubs: Cantona (wilkinson didn't like him !) robben (who was let go) and many others. Mata just didn't fit in the Jose game plan. May fit in Moyes' s...
Do you really think mata would of forced a moved to united if he was playing week in week out? He loved it here, loved the city.
Depends if United came calling. Seems hes quite the fan and very good friends with De Gea. Forced? nah, moved? Possible.
If Chelsea didn't want him and he wanted to stay in the premier league, of course he'd move to united. It's like if united didn't want rooney he'd probably move to chelsea. Mata's own words. Only left because he wasn't playing: Before last summer, my intention was to stay here for a long time; as long as the club wanted me to, and to keep winning trophies for Chelsea FC. This is how happy I was in the club and in the city. However, as you all know, things changed after the preseason. From feeling like an important player, I started to experience some difficult situations and I felt unable to help the team to the extent that I wanted and was used to. Obviously, I fully respect the circumstances.
