Apparently the numbers are different for each team. This came up last year when we lost to Crawley, I think.
Its so ****ing gutting that. Well pissed off. I just can for the life of me think how we could play so badly in the 3 Cup games. We arent a Man U who can just up their game whenever they feel like it. We have to keep momentum going.
Why would we have beaten Franchise FC? Hypothetically- to do so we would have luckily got through two rounds, where we really didn't care about the match at all. City didn't care about the competition from the start what so ever. We'd have been drawn against 3 lower league teams and hardly anybody would have travelled to Milton Keynes. We'd be coming up against a side who are inform and who have beaten a premier league side away, sorry thrashed, we'd have been beaten and just another cup scalp. Think we've done the right thing.
wouldnt have definately beaten them of course, but if somebody said at the beginning MK Dons for a place in the quarter finals, you would snap there hand off..
City didn't care about the cup from the off and we've been knocked out because of it. Rightfully and all.
Then you're an idiot. We'll be lucky to finish in the top-six. I'd rather see us do well in the Cup and finish 21st, than not take it seriously and still end up doing nothing in the league.
Wrong! We was the 5th tie to be drawn out hence the reason Barnsley were ball number 5, if we had won, we'd have been ball number 5!.
We'll finish in the top 6. City, throughout our history, haven't cared about the cup- no history in either and the crowds rarely turn up to the games we have a chance to progress in. City would have carried this apathy through to the next round and would have come unstuck against a side who were up for it. Yes it's all hyperthetical.
I wouldn't bet on it! F*ck me, are you really saying you don't care about us never doing anything in the Cups as the players and management traditionally haven't either?! Come on, Lloydy; don't talk crap.
I didn't say i'm not bothered all together. Which is why i turned up for the the league cup and fa cup matches. But when you see City not bothering from the start you question their committment. Most people at the Orient match on the 3rd were off or had left before Proschwitz scored. Most were in two minds whether prolonging this apathy for the cup for another month was worth it or whether they just wanted it over and done with without creating a backlog of fixtures. If City finished 21st after challenging for the playoffs in the previous seasons, you'd be whinging non stop all season. But because we had a cup run to round 5 it was worth it? Nah what a load of ****e. League is our bread and butter, the cup is a good thing when you care about it, but City haven't since the 2008-09 season.
Priority for at least half the teams in the Championship at the start of the season is getting promoted, and priority for half the teams in the PL at the start of the season is avoiding relegation. Reaching a cup final for Swansea is a bonus but if they were to be relegated would the fans really care about winning the league cup against Bradford. The only way we should be starting to concentrate on winning a cup is when we have been in the PL for 10 years and are a settled 9-11th place each season.
i think if SB didn't care about the cup then he would not have put a full side out against Barnsley, we were lucky it wan't another 3pts lost because at the moment the team dosn't look like scoring and have struggled since Sheffield Wednesday, it needs to be sorted quickly because that's how many games have we won in 2013?
I'd rather be in League Two and a Cup final, like Bradford, than in the Championship with no hope of ever doing... well, anything.
The question is, why don't we care about the FA Cup? It's not as if there's any fixture congestion between league and FA Cup games. It's a good opportunity to go on a good run, build up momentum and possibly play against a big team and cause an upset. ****'s sake, feels like such a waste of a weekend if we just can't be arsed to put in a performance.
Didn't know that, is it the same in the League Cup because I'm sure last year after losing to Crawley we had the same thing.
If the players can't be bothered in the FA Cup with nearly 10,000 watching what must they be like in training?
Completely agree with this. So some people would rather lose week in, week out throughout the league and then beat 4 lower league teams in a cup run before playing a top side in the quarters and likely losing? The general whinging from these people every Saturday and Sunday after each defeat would be wrist slittingly fun. The knee-jerk things people come out with when we're on a poor run are embarrassing. Someone finds a bit of form in front of goal and the momentum's back again. This run will be a thing of the past. I'm happy that our poor run has covered cup games instead of league games personally.
