The lady refusing the fight is described as a 'Doctor', bur whether she is a Doctor of Medicine, I don't know.
Her reasons for withdrawing hint that she may be.
However, this story shows one way to clear up this overly PC mess, and it's in the hands of the Athletes themselves.
If they, men and women, (but the Women will be most disadvantaged) will refuse to compete against people who have changed their gender, then the Sporting Authorities are going to have to introduce new classification rules.
Athletes compete against others who were born the same gender and those who have transitioned compete against other trans competitors.
Of course, I don't expect the prize money would be as tempting for, say, a tennis player, born male but competing as a trans woman, but that's not what it's about.

So sorry mate, it just really got to me ... I can barely type for laughing.
I tried different ways to re-phrase that line, but they were even worse and likely to upset any PC members we had reading them.
The worst thing about this for me isn’t the trans thing, though it is a recipe for disaster, it’s the fact that they put a convicted rapist in with vulnerable people. They do risk assessments and someone’s not done their job properly. Not that I think it’s generally a clever idea but feasibly a trans fraudster with no harmful sexual behaviours wouldn’t be in the same boat as this character.
