Nigel, the fans and the owners can forget about any kind of promotion push until these players learn how to defend. Forget about today, its irrelevant, the management the fans and commentators all analyse the bad goals we concede week in week out and nothing seems to change,it has gone on too long. Are the staff not listening? not learning? or not capable of putting together any kind of competent defence that can give us a chance away from home? Who's responsible ? what is happening in training? Nigel was a defender, but whatever he is trying to instill into the players is not working. When martin had a problem at the back he went for, elliot ,taggert and walsh...for now away from home this system has got to be considered . to continue to score two goals away from home and lose is a joke.. I would like to thank chelsea for crystalising our failings in defence for all to see..on the break the midfield was a wasteland, empty..the back four racing back to cover in desperation..my advice to the team is ,sit down and watch a video of todays game..its a masterclass in how not to defend against counter attacking football. If we haven't got the players then we need to get some ,if we have, then sort it out nigel, or theses lads will get you out..

WOW, what a sad indicment of your defence. I am sure that our Nick Barmby will have been watching. Have Nigels new men not been up to scratch by chance ? Just curious to know like.

    HAHAHA this is brilliant

i couldnt believe my eyes with how we conceded the 2nd goal. All the goals were poor defending simple as that, no prem class involved, 2 corners where players were unmarked, 2 counter attacks where you could hardly see any of our players anywhere, and torres 1st goal there was far too much space. Nothing whatsoever to take from this game at all, all it has proved is players like bamba, schmiechel, nugent whom we hold in high regard are really nowhere near good enough for the prem. We defend poorly, very poorly away from home, we have lost to watford, doncaster, bristol city away, barnsley, bristol at home its just not good enough. Im not saying with the players we have we should be top as west ham and saints and probably reading have better teams than us, however we should not be 12th having lost as many as we have won. this season has been an embarassment, and yesterday was another one in my opinion. Brum gave them a good game twice, we looked light years away from even doing that. Neil Danns and Beckford to some extent looked capable of playing in that company, but the rest need to improve dramatically. the point is there is a pattern ever since nigel came of conceding way too many and losing way too may away games, its his job to solve that problem and until he does and until we are able to keep clean sheets away we have no chance of building momentum and getting promoted. Since hes come back from africa, bamba has been awful.

The continued habit of nigels of highlighting our failings then not being able to do anything about it is concerning, either he can't change things or the players won't, ive always been against this so called idea of "putting an arm around the shoulder of beckford or whoever" to get them to do what they are getting very well paid for..its pathetic...your either a pro or your not...nobody has ever put their arm around my shoulder to get me to work harder, you perform or get the boot in the REAL world...

But in football people have contracts. It may be the case that they are not playing up to their contract value but it would be bloody hard to terminate a contract. So you are more stuck in the situation work with what you've got. It seems the arm round Beckford has payed dividends.
In the real world this sort thing does happen as people react differently to how it's handled. Example 1) a real good dressing down may inspire I'll show him but would just de-motivate others example 2) "come on you can do this" may lead to the feeling yes I can let's do it.
Some people need example 1 and some need example 2.
