Maybe nobody knows exactly why Niall has stood down but here's my take on it: Up until now we have not been completely settled as a club. He couldn't really have left during Roy Keane's time, Ricky Sbragia's time and especially Steve Bruce's time because things were not going as well as He would have wanted them to. OK but no cigar. Now with things going really well under Marty and with Short settled it looks like the right time to leave. I believe He was originally coming in for 5 years and it's been 6 but now things are looking good He can look back on a job well done and look forward to better things. A well deserved rest for Niall, an inspirational man, universally respected (but He will really always be ours) Thanks Niall. By the way, sign the petition for the South stand rename.
Agreed. I hope he is at the next home match for a send off. Which in my opinion SHOULD be a sell out!
There have been lots of so called superstars who come out with Standard sentiments after an association with a club...."The fans were always great to me ,,,etc but with the big fella you know its different.....Sunderlands Lawrence of Arabia.....we`re all arabs waiting for Lawrence to come back....hahahahaha!
"Sunderlands Lawrence of Arabia" will probably end up pretty accurate. 6 month rest and goes to earn mega arab bucks at Citeh.
