Here are few Bosman players with previous injury / performance issue that might be worth taking a gamble on: Owen Hargreaves: Undoubtedly an excellent Defensive Midfielder with experiance at the highest levels of football. Had injury problems and his attitude to overcoming these injures has been questioned. Considering retirement at 31 years old. In my opinion he could become a legend at Leeds if his heart was in it, if he could get the supporters behind him we would love to help him show Fergie what he was missing out on. Gai Assulin The youngest player on the list, no risk in terms of performance but we would need to outlay good money to secure a player of this quality. Of the mould of Messi but with his own style he could become known as the "Elland Road Assassin". The biggest risk would be keeping him if he hit hos true potential. MÃchel Salgado At 36 years of age he is a risky option, but is clearly a player of class. With over 250 appearances for Real Madrid as a tough tackling Right Back, he was left out of the Blackburn team as he could have saved because he had a clause giving him another year if he made more than 9 appearances. He wants to return to England for one last season as he family like the lifestyle here. On a basic contract plus appearances he poses no risk and would be a great teacher and model professional for the younger players to emulate. Michael Owen Owen is only 32 years of age and clearly still offers a great attacking option. The question is whether he still has a point to prove, or has attention moved to far towards his horse racing. If we could get him on a deal where he takes a good basic wage, plus goals bonus & 75% of Owen merchandise then we can not lose. Emile Heskey What list of risky Bosman's would be complete without good old Emile. Consistently slated during his career, yet loved by the fans of teams who have seen his teamwork & work rate. At 34 years of age he no longer appears to have his pace, but he still offers a great presence and ability to hold & lay the ball off. If you could partner him with Michael Owen you would have a strike force that could read each others minds and rip Championship defences apart.
Orlando Sá 6 ft 2 in Striker who was tipped for great things, scored a hat-trick against a Spain at under 21 level in 2008. A player of missed potential that could be the next Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (i.e learned his trade in Portugal). Why not take the chance, he can not be worse than Barndoor??
I would jump at the chance of hargreaves although a lot of fans wouldn't be too keen to see him here. I reckon he is the perfect style of player we need Gai Assulin is another which would be very good. I'd love to see him at leeds and he brings some much needed creativity to our team, I don't really see him as much of a risk either especially if the wages we were to get him on were right Michel Salgado IMO wouldn't be a good signing. too old now and I think he is done, he did well at times for blackburn though but there are better options out there Michael Owen could do a job actually, I don't think he would want to drop down into the championship but I have been surprised that a lower prem team haven't taken the risk on him over the last couple years. I would take him but I doubt he'd want to come Heskey: NO!!!!! One of the worst players in an England shirt that I have ever seen, I didnt think he was good in his 'prime' let alone now. If either Hull or Leicester sign him they will be idiots
