http://www.thisisanfield.com/2013/0...-is-becoming-the-new-rafa-benitez-at-anfield/ I for one wanted Rafa back but not now, im (and always have been) fully behind BR and am very excited about our future If we can carry on playing like that we'll be back in business, hugely impressed
I think our midfield this season finally looks good and settled. Hendo/Lucas/Gerrard is a great little combo and nicely balanced with BR's system. My worry is for next year and how Gerrard will fare... I think Rodgers will do well here if he can continue being allowed money to add smart buys - like Sturridge and (hopefully) Coutinho - and can effectively transition Carra and Stevie out the squad with younger replacements. He's learning well though and I think, despite all the wumming, he's doing better than alot of us expected.
this is all fine... and one sided. of course any article on a fan site will be. it brushed over the bad points and lauded the good. there are both here and the question has to be are we going to improve enough to get back towards the top of the tbale or are we looking at a nice style at a mid table club.... and rodgers is not the only one influencing that.
Now, if only we had someone on this forum who could point out the bad points of having Rodgers as manager.
I know its only to be expected but geez this board doesn't half go through rollercoasters of opinions! Firstly it was the players; one minute Hendo is great, the next not good enough, now he is a world beater. Allen looked a steal, then average, now he's the turd in the punchbowl. Carra was not good enough and past it, so much so that nobody picked him in their best line-ups and now people are putting him in their match line-ups! A couple of weeks ago there were threads questioning BR's abilities, tactics, formations, philosophy, signings. Now as we are at the top of the rollercoaster (after admittedly a couple of encouraging displays) he is being lauded over!!!!!!!!!! Not sure if people forget what they post or have the memory of a goldfish but some don't half seem to be swept along by dominant narrative.
I know what you mean, it was only yesterday you was praising everyone for excellent and consistent posts More seriously though, there probably are people that change their minds more often then their pants but you have to remember that there are quite a few posters on here, all with a different opinion. There could be a selection that like something and another that doesn't. Only one of those groups will stand it if something good / bad happens around that opinion
People as a rule are fickle, some more than others. Some also have thick skins, so don't care if they contradict themselves. It really bothers me if I have to do that. Splendid observation though Shanks
Erm not me pal I wanted Rafa back but have supported Brendan since he got the job. I can see us playing good stuff, even when we haven't won I have seen green shoots in how we played So your generalisation doesn't apply to me i'm afraid
To be honest not sure I meant anyone in particular; just seems to be a general theme I have noticed over a period of time. Probably easier to spot in the last couple of weeks such is the difference in general theme/tone, especially with regard to BR.
I agree that Gerrard, Lucas and Hendo are looking good. What if any of them gets injured? Who would be their replacement? I'm not convinced that we have the depth of squad required yet. Truly hope that Lucas stays injury free all season! Hendo > Shelvey Gerrard > Allen Lucas > ?? I fully expect at least two first team players to join in the summer and one or two of the current fringe players to move out.
Sorry if I came across a bit upitey (is that a word!?) I didnt mean too The same thing annoys me which is why I probably got a bit annoyed when I thought you were saying that my mind changes with the wind If any of the last two games (bar last half hour against Arsenal!) are anything to go by then I think we are forging a good team for the future I think we have played well in other games but these last two it really looks like its coming together Wish we could have got Sturrdige in the summer, we'd be closer to the top four!
Do we have a decent def mid in the reserves? I think its fair to say Spearing doesnt have a future with us
We owe a few one this season. Citeh home and away, united home and away L'Arse at home, Chavs. The list is extensive.
the general will return when you are ready to listen i'm sure. i had my run ins with him too but he's still a fellow red.
