Not for the feint hearted this one. This clip comes from the Israeli league where ex Barcelona youth player commits one of the worst tackles you are ever likely to see on a football pitch. During a game between Maccabi Haifa and Bnei Yehuda, Ruben Rayos of Haifa flew in to a tackle with two-feet and seriously injured the Israeli player. Have you ever seen a tackle this bad? From a distance it doesn't look so bad, and then you see the replay....
Horrible. Likewise this one doesn't look so bad, but entirely premeditated, Goikoetxea said he was going to break Maradona's leg before the game. Maradona also proves you CAN roll around with a broken leg. Eddie McReadie almost taking Bremner's head off in the 70 Cup Final replay was disgraceful too, but somehow justifiable. Man, that was a violent game.
Ah yes, Goikoetxea aka 'The Butcher of Bilbao.' I don't think he even got booked for that challenge. This is quite a good article on him and the Maradona incident. http://www.elcentrocampista.com/2012/07/when-diego-maradona-met-the-butcher-of-bilbao/
That is horrific. The worst that I can recall having the misfortune to be present at was Paul Went virtually ending the career of Martyn Busby at the Cottage in October 1972. How sad I was last year when I was told that Went could now hardly walk.
Virtually all bad tackles are cowardly, they don't give the other bloke a chance of defending himself. Its no different to sucker punching a bloke in a bar. That doesn't make you a hard man. Thats why I like the NHL, if you have a problem, you fight face to face like a man.
I'm surprised no one has posted the PIC of scholes exposing himself during a game considering the title.
That is nasty! Have to say the first one that sprung to my mind for sheer malice and forethought was the Keane tackle, he was a vicious sod on the pitch.
Chris Morgan's elbow on Ian Hume was more akin to assault than a 'challenge' for the ball. Not a 'leg breaker' but certainly a 'head breaker'
