While I nervously hope no one nicks Charlie Austin or Matt Phillips at the eleventh hour, who, for you, is the worst signing of the window. This can be just that they're ****, poor value or whatever you want. United buying a child for the GDP of Eritrea? Sunderland spending £10m on Borini? I give this ten posts before descending into a Piskie v HIAG ****athon, but we shall see.
Sundland spent £7.75m up front which COULD rise to £9.75m. Hardly a bad deal for us when we sold Wickham for £9m!!
I suppose you could look at it like that though I think Wickham has more chance of doing something useful. Different sorts of players though. I'd have thought Advocaat's style suits someone like Wickham more.
No real shocking deals spring to mind (yet), I'd say thisFrench kid Utd have bought is a risk for that kind of money and seeing as they have nothing up top but he may surprise us I suppose.

Borini on the other hand has the heart of a lion and a great work rate and is also at a good age. Has already scored important goals for us too. And before any scousers laugh at us they paid more for him than we did yet he has already scored more for us than he has for them. My nomination for worst value signing is that Martial. No brainer!
Phil Neville says he's aces so mock all you like but you'll be SORRY! It's going to be Martial Law. Like Denis Law. I wonder if he'll get us relegated?

He just has a thing about Sunderland Tiz.[/QUOTE] Not at all. Just don't rate Borini who at the age of 24 doesn't have 100 senior appearances and rarely seems to do anything. Wickham massively flattered to deceive but I think Pardew might get a tune out of him. Any striker playing with Palace's midfield should be getting well into double figures.

If any player could get double figures because of their midfield, it is due to the service of the midfield then not the ability of the strikers. Wickham is more bovvered about looking like the top geezer in a snapback and Airmaxes at the club than football.
The quoting has totally gone to pot. It makes perfect sense. Bolasie, Puncheon etc. should put enough on a plate for Wickham to look pretty good and I expect Pardew will utilise him better than the various managers he was under at Sunderland. A better striker would make use of that service even better.
But that doesn't mean Wickham is any good. You said any player could score loads, so if Wickham does, that doesn't make him any better does it? As for comparing league appearances, Borini got 7 in 32 for us, Wickham got 11 in 72 (I think, might have been 74), Wickham couldn't cut it at the same club as Borini. And of course Borini would start less when playing in better teams than Wickaham has ever been part of.
We'll see. I don't think either are brilliant but Wickham at two years younger and more experienced in his career thus far will prove a better signing. Just an opinion. I think Palace is a club which will get the best out of him whereas I don't think that will happen with Borini. Happy to be proven wrong if that turns out to be the case.
Apparently there are loads of add ons including a fee if he wins the Ballon D'Or. So United will never have to pay that one. It's a barmy deal.
It is mental. I've read varying reports that the initial fee of £36m was too low and that £44m was paid with add ons up to £58m
Why pointless? It's a ridiculous sum of money for a 19yr old who has only ever played in the relatively weak Ligue 1. You might get lucky, but for £36 mill or more, I'd want a lot more than that.
