RvW according to WhoScored: http://www.football365.com/f365-features/9196884/WhoScored-s-Worst-Team-Of-The-Season
Not sure I agree with you there. You could argue that it is the most objective way of looking at it (as they actually outline a statistical methodology to their madness). I think I understand what you're getting at though, as obviously the overall ratings aren't flawless.
guess you've got to base it on something you could argue that rvw has been bad because of the quality of supply from midfield / defence. i can imagine there's probably quite a few contenders for the front two postions, e.g cambell, altidore, bent (although he has scored a few goals), anelka the main issue is i have is calling hooper awful!
I think Elmander has been far worse with more minutes on the pitch. Incidently I liked how Wes and Hooper linked up in the villa game. A positive I would like to keep for the next game.
The Wes and Hooper link up was encouraging however I feel that his inclusion hindered us defensively so I would like Howson to start
Hooper has definitely not been decidedly awful. Makes the whole piece lose credibility, as it suggests the author hasn't seen much of Norwich this season at all. How can he therefore tell us that RVW is the worst player in the league? For the record, I still believe in Ricky. I'm looking for an end to the season that matches Jackson's in 2011, keeps us up, and writes him into Norwich folklore. Someone's going to have to step up to the plate if we're to stay up; why not someone who has (or, at least had (with more confidence)) some real quality about him?
While stats are useful they don't tell you the full story. A player could play the pivotal role in every goal scored by a team but he might only actually assist 2 or 3 over the season. He'd still be incredibly important but his stats wouldn't reflect that. That's my problem with Whoscored at times. They rely so heavily on their stats that they stop actually watching the players.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPfAiYOMCt8 Incredible composure, incredible movement (see goal no. 2) and he finishes like a demon. Give him time.
Ricky's problem (and Hoopers to an extent) is we signed a striker and then completely refuse to adapt our style of play to suit provide the support they required, then complained that they weren't scoring goals despite us not giving them the opportunity and only he's entirely shot of confidence do we start to look capable of getting the ball into the feet of a striker.
If that team played against our starting line up from the Villa game both Graham and Wolswinkel would score!!!
The write-up (and the Hooper comment) isn't from WhoScored, it's from Football365. RvW has the lowest overall rating for a Prem player according to WhoScored's stats.
Ricky's problem was that the side never gave him the confidence to take that penno which Snoddy missed. That was a real slap. I was fecking livid about that.
"he has only hit the target three times in the last seven months, in which time he has been on the pitch for nearly 16 hours. A shot on target every five hours 15 minutes" Now that stat is one that surprises me a little... From the little I have seen (generally highlights) it seems that Norwich have an uncanny talent of hitting the target but also placing it right down the keepers throat... rvw has often looked lost (again from the little I've seen) but a goal.. or two does often dramatically change things
