Just saw a thread about Alex Ostlund and started me thinking about poor players we've had since our relegation from the Prem but who's the worst? Personally i think it's gotta be someone like Jermaine Wright, although Paul Wotton has to be given a mention surely?... Edit - i should have mentioned anthony pulis isn't a viable answer as he didn't play.
The one player I've personally seen look out of his depth is Lloyd James, although that's probably due to being played out of position at such a young age...
Oliver Lancashire has to be the worst that actually played in the first team, totally out of his depth.
Jermaine Wright gets my vote. Horrible player - also stole a goal off Rickie Lambert (even if it was against us!!)
I really don't get the hate for Lloyd James, I thought he was a good player - especialy considering he was played out of position
I just remember being at the Nottingham Forest game at home in 2008/09, and you could tell he was out of his depth. Admittedly he found his feet in L1, and I'm glad he's found himself another club at that level. I just don't think he'll exceed it.
Romain Gasmi. To be fair to Wotton, he played some good games but just wasn't the greatest of passers. James was played mainly out of position so I also think that's a bit unfair.
Wotton was very hard working and always did his bit for the team. Nit a bad player himself, it was other areas on the pitch which made us look poor...
Gasmi/Wright Never understood why Lloyd James divided such opinion seems to be like a 50/50 split, personally i thought he was a decent squad player and doesn't deserver being compared to the likes of gasmi/pulis/wright and half the **** loanes we had in our post prem years etc
Just waded through a host of post-Premiership Saints players, and almost without exception they were absolute plonkers. And I don't include the likes of Jermaine Wright, either. In fact, so many are there that I can't pin it down to one player. Thankfully, most of them never made an appearance in the first team. Lloyd James was an absolute beacon of skill and technique in comparison. On the other hand, there was the occasional perfectly reasonable player, such as Mario Licka, and maybe Kamil Kosowski, who were sunk low by being caught up in such an awful era at SFC.
