I have to say, I went to see Manic Street Preachers at the SECC in Glasgow and was pretty disappointed. Was really looking forward to it but the whole atmosphere seemed flat. Mind you, the SECC is a terrible venue. But the worst ever was the Dandy Warhols. I've never seen a band look so bored and disinterested. Dreadful band.
David Bowie, Roker Park 1987. The god awful Glass Spider Tour. Apart from a magnificent version of "All The Madmen" he concentrated on his show on the post Scary Monsters 80's pish. The support band Big Country were far better.
Worst by a mile was Bob Dylan in Milwaukee 2012. We had to leave early as he was so bad. Luckily the opening act Mark Knopfler more than made up for Dylan's excuse of entertainment.
I was there that day, 'awful' is being kind. Not one of his best. Big Country were good. Worst for me is Michael Jackson at Aintree in 1988. Didn't like him to start with so that didn't help. Luckily he was only a dot in the distance.
Aye, one of the biggest disappointments of my life. Being a Bowiephile for years it really was utter nonsense. Even the version of "Heroes" was utter pants. Terrible concert.
Culture Shock at the Fulham Greyhound, the gig din't go ahead because too many people turned up and the venue doors were smashed in. As if that wasn't bad enough I was wrongfully arrested.
Pearl Jam at Manchester Evening News Arena nothing wrong with the band or the music but I was way at the back at this huge venue and the sound was ****.
Wombats at the Carling Academy in Newcastle. The second time I'd seem them and all of a sudden I felt like an old man as their fan base got about 20 years younger overnight.... they were god awful.
Went to RHCP at Murrayfield a few years back. Would have been as well sitting in my livingroom with the windows open. Stadium gigs are usually dreadful.
Angelic Upstarts at that venue that was in Glasgow just at charing cross - its gone now and I cant remember the name of it - absolute ****ing murder and mayhem, packs of skins roaming and battering anyone indiscriminately, still, I stayed to the end, somehow back then that kind of tribal violence was acceptable at gigs .....everybody`s looking for the last gang in town...
Mark Knopfler are you serious ? Knopfler > Dylan = you require medication. I once had a guitar of knobfeelers which I knew was going back to him. I pished on it
Fun Lovin Criminals. Huey Couldn't be arsed, didn't even take center stage, he stuck himself on the right hand side. ZZZZZzzzzzzz........
Electric Six at the Patti Pavilion in Swansea, they were ****ing gash. I only went because no one ever comes to play at this musical black hole of a town. Got to say that Morrissey was fairly average last time I saw him at the MEN late last year. Won't be bothering with him again unless a certain Mr Marr is sharing the stage.
Saw the Wombats in Blackpool a few years ago the queue for the sweetie counter was longer than the queue for the bar. Worst one has to be Meatloaf at the Arena in Newcastle ( our lasses favourite) he came on mumbled for about 5 minutes then went off with a sore throat needless to say not her favourite any more.
At Sonisphere '09 I had to endure a terrible Linkin Park set. I'm not particularly a fan, but they're not bad, and I thought I might enjoy it, but ended up thinking it was utter ****e. I was right at the front, at one point a camera man came across recording the crowd, everyone else bouncing round going mad, and me stood arms folded, looking none too impressed. Hope I made it onto the highlights . Worth it to have a decent spot for 'Tallica though.
