Been thinking this a while. Because I cannot remember too much of the old Wimbledon side I cannot compare the two myself but many have so I thought I would create a debate on it to see what people think about who is the worst footballing side in the past 30 years.
Wimbledon were not a good footballing side, but they were great fun, oh and Liverpool don't think much of them either!! Apart from ourselves Sgt, the worst side I have seen in the PL was Derby, under Paul Jewell. Any stato's out there, which club has scored the least goals in a premier league season??? We must be close?
we played like Wimbledon, the first 2 seasons,up and at them,in there faces, now we dont care,so its got be Stoke for this season.
we played like Wimbledon the first 2 seasons,in teams faces, very exciteing, now there is nothing,so its stoke for me.
One win in 2013. Six losses in a row away from home. Third worst team in the form league. Didn't score a goal in 13 out of 30 league games. Second fewest goals scored in the league. This honestly is anti-football. It must be depressing for fans, especially when it seemed for a brief time you were going to become a good attacking team with wingers. Pulis you have 34 points. You are safe. For the sake of your fans (and neutrals who don't want 10% of games to be a waste of time) play some ****ing football.
Fantastic post. Really sums it up for me. It is bloody depressing. I fell out of love with football a few years ago but the one saving grace was Stoke but now Pulis is making that a chore as well. It's not like the binary football of 04/05 when we had **** players, we have some fine footballers in Adam, Wilson, Cameron, Etherington, Palacios, Shea but they are forced to play this horrific brand of football. Pulis hates expectation and can only deal with being an underdog and he loathes the fact that we are expecting more. Which is why he comes out with **** like he does about survival being a success. We've been in this league for 5 seasons, spent £100m so is it really too much to ask that we have more ambition than simply survival and more than just one horrible tactic. I love direct football but you can play good football whilst being direct as we showed during March and April during our march to Wembley and at times this season we've played some great stuff; away at the **** and Chelsea two examples.
Years ago Arsenal were also a terrible footballing side, when Dixon, Bould etc were there. All they did was big boot, but Stoke are definately the worst footballing side ive ever seen
11 points clear of the bottom two and 8 teams between you and 18th place. You might only need 36 point for safety this year.
Wigan have 2 games in hand, if they win them then its a whole different story, and how they are playing they have a good chance
There are twists and turns in this season yet, but after 5 years and £100 million spent we should not be relying on other teams performances to keep us in the Prem!!!!
That's my point exactly Jowler, for the past couple of seasons we HAVE been relying on the wretchedness of other teams.
Out of 90 away games we have won just 14 and most of them were at West Brom who we always beat away anyway!
Unfortunately those are the only stats I can find regarding lowest goals scored, I was hoping to find a run down. Derby were absolutely shocking that season, so I'd like to know the stats for a more "average" season.
