Just occurred to me on another thread but who is the worst ever….whatever such as player for Newcastle or England or referee or whatever you want. For England, the worst player at full level has to be Carlton Palmer. The bloke stole a living as a footballer never mind an England footballer. Just to get Poster Boy started the first of the worst referee candidates predates PL times and exists in the personage of Trelford Mills. The second candidate is the chump known as Steve Martin. He was so comical that an American film/comedy star took his name. The winner for me though is the idiot known as Keith Stroud.
I can't recall palmer myself but I remember my father had it in for him to the point he'd fight with my mother and ruin every England match.
For me the worst transfer in terms 'value for' (or rather 'waste of') money has to be Owen. Obviously he's not the worst we've had as a player based on his career and reputation, but for us it was very poor business. He was just a money grabbing twat who didn't try and was only ever fit for England games. Seems like he felt NIFC was beneath his ability and his lack of fight when we were facing relegation made him a bad piece of transfer business.
If we are talking worst prediction league manager then you have No Hope of guessing my candidate. In fact you'll Nev-er guess. There is more chance of you guessing correctly than there is of a 30-yard screamer flying off of Joelinton's right boot to win the cup final for us.
I also remember that for reasons that escape me a player whose contract expires if not fixed up with a new club is entitled to an extra month’s salary from the “old” club and Owen claimed his extra month as he had not been fixed up despite the money he’d received already, the fact he bottled out of the relegation fight, the fact that the Club was in serious financial problems. That would be an interesting thread, the most hated…whatever..
Definitely. An expense non-trier who not only robbed the club of any effort, but who to this day doesn't think he needed to do any more because of poorly knee and supreme talent. To think, with another 15,000 fans I took my 8 year old son to St James Park to welcome him! What a let down he was.
