Figured I’d start one of these with the tournament booting off tomorrow. Who’s anyone’s fancies? Dark horses? Anyone give a ****? What’s England gonna do. For what it’s worth.... France will win it. Kane will win the golden boot (thanks mainly to the Panama game...) Uruguay are proper underrated, Cavani and Suarez can kill anyone. England will do alright and get to quarters, we can do semi IF we win group (GD will be the key, note back to my Kane prediction, he’s double a Lukaku) Brazil are the main threat to the Frogs, Spain won’t be affected by the madness, and a star will be born in Timo Werner, who will promptly sign for Bayern. Anyone beg to differ?
Not sure France is footballs home squire... Seriously though, I think we are half decent. Should have taken Sessegnon and Wilshere but we have quality. Thank god Smalling didn’t go. I tip Lingaard to be our surprise package, he’s a smashing wee player he will catch some teams out with his burst of pace. I like him.
Don't worry marra.... I'm pretty sure I'm way off the mark (last 16 realistically!) Brazil always **** it up France looking good Germany ALWAYS just do enough In truth I'm fancying a 'dark horse' to come good ??? AKA.... No idea
Spain were my favourites but the manager situation has got to affect them a little. So probably a straight fight between the Germans and Frogs.
Croatia and Poland dark horses. England to win the group and go out in the quarters. Spain to scrape through the group and bomb out in the 2nd round. Between France and Argentina to win the world cup. There's not much form for Argentina coming into this, but I've just got a feeling they'll blow a couple of teams away with their firepower. Aguero to win the golden boot.
3rd person I’ve spoken to today gone for Argentina. I just don’t see it, but they have some ridiculous attacking talent. I think they will concede too easily to win it, they’ll be great to watch. Part of me feels it’d be a shame if Messi didn’t win a World Cup, cos **** have I enjoyed watching the lad, an absolute phenomenon of a footballer.
I'm not that bothered about the WC but I'm ready to watch some footy, last season feels about six months ago. Probably pick Germany to win.
Don’t you think it’s got the making of a great tournament though? Manageable temperatures, several genuinely quality teams, and several more who could surprise? I reckon it’s gonna be a great one.
England to limp through the group with a goal difference of +2 and get knocked out in the last 16. Italy to win it.... Let me finish. Holland and Italy decide to hold an alternative world Cup final. They do it in the car park of the stadium as to upstage the real game. All is going well until the Dutch can no longer continue due the sheer volume of reefer all Dutch people smoke and the Italians have a similar problem, being far too full of pasta. The game is about to be called a draw when an energy drink revived Nigel de Jong demands a trail by combat. He is met in makeshift center circle by Gennaro Gattuso, still vomiting pasta to improve his agility. The two men exchange racial slurs and charge. Moments from impact De Jong leaps from the ground, studs up. Gennaro knows his enemy though. He anticipates the kick, ducks below and rises up with a street fighter-esque upper cut square into de Jongs's nuts. FIFA are so Impressed they award Italy the championship. Side note, all future worlds cups are decided like this leading to Kevin ball's first cap.
Yeah could well be, I tend to prefer the carnival atmosphere when it's somewhere hot but it doesn't help the football I suppose. I think we've got the makings of a good team but the manager is about as inspiring as a glass of room temperature water. If Kane brings his shooting boots we'll have a chance of getting somewhere.
This is it mate, we haven’t the overall of some of the teams, but we’ve the most complete striker at the tournament. That can win you games. Vardy and Rashford are lively as well of course, great options.
The knock out games could be unreal. Can't separate Germany, France, Spain and Brazil. Then there are Argentina, Belgium, Uruguay and dare we say England. Could be a classic.
