have to disagree about short keepers and disadvantage on pens.

For me the best pen keepers were those who were decisive and can spring fast.

For all their height i don't think Petr Cech was ever good at it or even Buffon was decent.

I remember Reina being great at them and he's tiny by comparisson but because he had such a quick spring he got to them if he went the right way

we are still talking about 6 foot 2 inches to 6 foot 5 inches

my view is the best keepers dont guess. thry have good research and can read a little in body language. which shoulder drops to show if the guy is opening body or not for example or angle of run.

if a keeper stands up til as late as possible then it's a game of chicken. if the attacker hasnt chosen direction then its much more likey they wont.find corner.

some keepers are diving before the guy is striking or even close and top pen takers just roll ball the other side with a small adjustment.

again... all things being equal if you cant reach the corner cos you are shorter by a full ten cms then it's that much easier beat you.

Are you trying to claim Reina was tall then?

I never said that.

we are debating over 185cm pickford and thus far everyone is taller. even reina.

I'm really just saying reina had a decent record for us from pens but so did mingolet.

really the main thing is pickford makes them all look giant.

there's an inch between pickford and reina and then and other 2 inches to mingolet.

that means longer arms and bigger reach.

1 inch is hardly anything between reina and pickford.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

It's definitely quite explosive their spring is :P

But you accept Reina had a decent record at penalties? And you've already dismissed Seaman because there was only a inch difference? Seems you need to sort your angle out mate

what angle.

just cos reina had a decent record doesn't mean he was all things to all men.

As I said so had mingolet who was taller.

I've only commented on pickford midget status here. he clearly is not reaching the corners so England are ****ed on pens.

you can be 6 foot 5 and useless as you guess early and are easily been it 5 foot 10 and tough to beat as you force a good strike from pens.

Your picking which bits of data to use to push your agenda mate, it's embarrassing

I think we had this conversation before <laugh> If you have other attributes then you can be a great keep, as is the case with Casillas. Pickford doesn't look fit - for a start - and doesn't appear to have any great skills to make up for the lack of height.

You need to get onto the blower to Southgate then.

The alternative is unthinkable.

I've backed pickford for no 1 for months but he is still too short... the choices England have are weak enough.

I can't believe nobody brought up.his save.last night as well.

What save, he isn’t tall enough, fit enough(blame sam and Southgate)or good enough.

I said Pope should be in goal, he was clearly the form keeper.

It's more a case of he's the best of a bad bunch. I have no better alternative name for English keeper so I'd have nothing to say to Southgate. I'm not impressed with Pickford, his lack of height is just one thing that's noticeable when assessing how he performs. It's something that stands out when you see him in action. Maybe his lack of athletic physique makes it more noticeable. He looks small and fat ....

.... other than that he seems a nice lad. <ok>

The save the pundits said he should have done better with? <whistle> Tip it over the cross bar not out to the side ....
