Used to be so fiery and came across as a crass **** but when you hear the background, it kind of molds the person into that defensive shell and loads of outbursts. Many here who know of Croatian/Serbian/Bosnia/ ex Yugoslav people know they can be some of the nicest and most loyal people but mention the wrong thing and it can get a bit dicey.
