Just seen this 'squad selector' tool on Sky Sports.

    http://www1.skysports.com/FIFA-World-Cup-2014/england/squad-selector

Having done my team, what strikes me most is the amount of quality players I could find no room for. The keepers, defenders and attackers were easy enough but in midfield I've left out Barry, Henderson, Huddlestone, Johnson, Lampard, Lennon, Townsend and Young who are all good players IMO. It's funny how we talk about a lack of talent, yet we're really spoilt for choice in some areas.

    PLT's team

    Thoughts?

I think it must have gone wrong, as it's showing Glen Johnson as one of your choices.

I think he'll be nailed on first choice at RB won't he? I like Walker but he never seems to play, he must be injured a lot or something. Who's the alternatives? Jones and Smalling? :emoticon-0119-puke:

England have a good squad tbh, best in years

The coach is wrong though, why did hodghson get the job <laugh>

And surprisingly the weakest players now are every manchester United player

There's no wonder man u are 7th, cleverley, smalling, Jones etc... im not saying they're terribly bad, (apart from smalling, who really is utter ****e) but theyre at their level with man u atm (7th-8th) max and rooney brings nothing to england

It's the opposite of germany with klose and podolski, never really set club football alight but their international football is phenomenal

Rooney will never be dropped ever though

Wasn't it you who argued with me that Carroll should go ahead of Lambert?

Also which side does Flanagan play? I get confused between him and Robinson.

Yes it was, because I think that Carroll is a superior footballer.

But he hasn't had enough time to play himself into any sort of form since his injury whereas Lambert is scoring most weeks, it'd be pretty harsh to leave Lambert. In fact, I might take both and leave Defoe in the US.

    I have thought for a while that Carroll/Lambert is a toss-up.

I'd have your squad, but with either Flanagan or Henderson in place of Walker (depending on whether I can trust Jones as backup at RB, making room for another midfielder).

He's a RB who has been filling in at LB quite a bit of the time for Liverpool.

I'd definitely leave Defoe in the US regardless. I used to really rate him but even when he was playing regularly in a proper league he was never an England regular. His day is gone unfortunately and like many England players he's given up his last few years of international football for a bit of money and fame playing abroad. That was his choice. Same thing Beckham and Owen did. They should all have done what Gerrard has done. The likes of Sturridge and Welbeck have long since overtaken him now.

I wanted to pick Henderson but found that my midfield lacked cover for Gerrard, If he gets injured we'll need Carrick or Barry to play that deep role so I picked Carrick and got rid of Henderson. However thinking about it I'd rather have Barry than Carrick and I'd also do what you said (Henderson for Walker).

    Macca's team

I got stuck with 1 player left, so I picked Stones at random.

As regularly as Welbeck has featured under Hodgson, I think his squad place was coming under serious threat from Rodriguez (not that it was necessarily an either/or). But since the latter's injury he's safe.

Real shame that Micah Richards has dropped off so much. When he was getting all those caps for Mclaren I thought he could be our first choice for 10+yrs.
