Of the available players, it looks pretty much the best available. I’m not a fan of taking injured players and hoping they will be ok, so I would have taken Ward-Prowse over Philipps for that reason.
I have lost the desire to watch England anymore as they are boring and predictable and when they play the likes of the Excited States they will be playing against an entire squad that really care about the shirt. Egos have overtaken pride in the representation of your country on the international stage and to be honest I don't think they have a snowball's chance in hell. There will be at least 4 or 5 teams in the tournament who have more national pride and ability to beat England at any stage and I would be surprised if they go past the quarters. I hope I am proven to be wrong but my sole memory is 1966 when I was actually at Wembley and saw it all. West Ham 4 West Germany 2. For all of us that remember that magnificent day in English Football. They think it's over - it is now. It should never have been awarded to Qatar and that's one of my main reasons for apathy.
My apathy towards it is not the fact that it was awarded to Qatar through bribery, that has gone on for years when awarding the WC and Euros. Qatar are being picked on as they are a little country in every sense. It’s more the time of year, it’s hard to think that WC is 10 days away, normally I’m buzzing by now, but not this year. I read an analogy this week that summed it up for me, it feels like someone is shoving a Sunday roast down my throat for a Tues breakfast. I thought that was funny
QATAR will be a success if we get to final! a failure if we dont Qatar has used "basically slave labour " to build everything as the local "qatari's are basically lazy and live off the oil revenue ... in years to come places like Qatar will become film sets as no oil no income needed to support it
Despite the little of England left in me from 1966 I will cheer for Canada as a severe underdog. Alphonso Davies is one of the best players I have seen in my almost 50 years in Canada but he enters the fray after coming off a very recent serious injury and I doubt he can see out any tough matches. In reality I don't think we have much hope of getting out of the group, but you can always hope and dream. P.S. The getting out of the group stage applied to Canada, just in case you wondered.
