Shame. Though would have been interesting to see how the Russian border authorities handled fans coming from Syria.

Let's see if Argentina and Netherlands go out tonight...

    Netherlands IMO are done.

Argentina is not very easy at all. they ****ed it at the weekend drawing 0-0 right? they have to win and others not. Its really poor from them.

I read it somewhere that, Messi cannot be the greatest except he wins the world cup.

If they win, they are guaranteed at least 5th (and a play-off against New Zealand) as the 2 teams above them play each other.

Jose Mourinho strategy is,do not concede the first goal.If United scores they defend it with their life.

    Desperate Dutch v Sweden?..........or.............Portugal v Switzerland?...............hmmm, the latter I think.

Switzerland have won each of their 9 games so far in qualifying, yet may not make the WC <yikes>

Back to England, there was talk earlier about the quality of coaches in this country being a big issue. Yeah. Who are the muppets who, when they start rising through the ranks and getting to the pro licenses, start teaching them? All the failed, English bores of old. Mediocrity breeds mediocrity.

    Facilities are behind other countries.
The players, even professionals (seriously, Kane who's the best we have wouldn't even start for Spain, Germany, France, Brazil, Argentina or Uruguay, we make him out to be world class), are behind the other countries.
The coaches are behind the other countries.

Worst part is, we don't even have the belief, national pride or unity to 'dig in' and rise against the odds as underdogs to beat other teams like say Wales do. We're just a shambles in every sense of the word when it comes to being a footballing nation.

We'll have another **** tournament which'll herald in a new report being produced to address the state of English football and how to transform it. Any guesses who'll be formulating that report and action plan? <doh>

Van Dijk looking a bit rusty for the Dutch. So's Lindelof for the Swedes though.

I am not sure if i have said this before but we will never be the best in the world, however we will never be the worst - our problem is that all of our philophsy’s are derived following someones else’s model.
We just do not have they climate to follow the Brazillian style, nor do we have the strategic abilities of other nations. As an organisation the FAdo not allow anyone to think out of the box as it were. We penalise difference in this country, always have done and cant see it changing in the future. Best example of this actually comes in cricket. Had muri and malinga both come through the ranks in this country, they just would not have been allowed to bowl how they did. We would have coached their technique out of them. Its very sad. :(
