World Cup in Qatar 2022

Been confirmed today that it will run from November 21st to December 18th 2022. Gonna be interesting to see how they manage the Premier League season and the UCL in amongst all that. In addition, temperatures are going to be soaring into the 40s at that time of the year (despite it being cooler, apparently). Fun times ahead?

 

It's a joke. All of the European leagues should boycott it.

 

Don't know who in their right mind thought it would it would be a good idea to award a WC to a country with a questionable human rights record, scorching hot temperatures and problems with transportation, costs, etc. Has all the makings of one of the worst tournaments ever.

Total farce awarding it to Qatar in the first place. The fact that it's in the winter will just **** up the premier league and Champions League.

Sad that this specific world cup is going to be the last in its current format as well (from 2026 it's a 46 team affair which in itself is ridiculous).

 

Why is FIFA persisting in holding a WC in a giant ****ing sandpit.

then to have the wonderful denouement of them deciding it needed to be held in winter (despite that not being what was bid for) as it turned out to everyones surprise that the desert was bloody hot in summer.

Mind you it may not happen as Qatar may not be able to stage it if the Saudis & other gulf states increase the pressure.

 

Where would they host it if Qatar was unable to?

 

probably have to be in Europe as only ones who have facilities pretty much ready from scratch.

 

I'll keep an open mind. Even the idea of a break in the Prem and CL makes the whole thing interesting. Love the drama, me. Bring it on

 

I’ll probably go. Too many teams but a whole tournament in such a tiny country has to be decent. Mid-high 20 temperatures. Bring it on.
