So England (and Scotland's) draw for the World Cup in Russia (for now) 2018 looks like this: England Slovakia Slovenia Scotland Lithuania Malta Does anyone care? Even in the off-season I sense a lack of interest in the national game. Reasonably straight forward looking group to me.
Another group we'd have to actively sabotage ourselves not to win. I'd quite like to see Rusty and Whitts versus Redmond though.
Not exactly the group of death is it? No doubt England will win the group at a canter and the National Press will suddenly decide they are world beaters until everyone is broughtt back down to Earth when shock, horror we fail to get out of our group at the finals.
Given that we usually go out of the actual competition early, an interesting group is the best we can hope for in way of excitement. Sadly, this isn't it!
England v Scotland will keep the BBC going in euphoric claptrap, clips and flashbacks for months. You are qite right though Gandy in that should we actually get to the finals we will be despatched fairly quickly, I am afraid I have no faith now in the England team, set-up and overall structure and it is certainly not Hodgson's fault.
