Ok so it may not be THE toughest group according to the latest FIFA rankings but its not far from it.!

Taking into account the trip down the Amazon, it could not have been much harder, at least the Germans get to play all their group games by the sea...!

    Group A
    Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon
Total ranking points by position - 97

    Group B
    Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia
Total ranking points by position - 84

    Group C
    Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan
Total ranking points by position - 81

    Group D
    Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy
Total ranking points by position - 57

    Group E
    Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras
Total ranking points by position - 91

    Group F
    Argentina, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Iran, Nigeria
Total ranking points by position - 105

    Group G
    Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA
Total ranking points by position - 45

    Group H
    Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea

Tough but not the toughest group. Perhaps we might up our game abit. I have to say in general I have been very impressed with Hodgson and certainly think he's got us heading in the right direction. With a bit of luck and having key players in form I think we could surprise a few people!! And if we do get through the group hopefully playing those tougher matches will stand us in good stead for the knockouts

I think a Cup draw should just be all the balls in one hat and drawn out, not all this seedings and other stuff.

I half agree. You wouldn't want Brazil, Spain, Germany and Argentina for example in the same group because that way the tournament would not be as exciting in the latter stages if you definitely lost two of them. But I think they go way too far with it and the draw yesterday was not so much a draw as a controlled placing of teams together. Why not just seed the hosts and top 7 teams and then let the rest of the draw be a free for all? That way you would have groups of death and you might get a group where some of the minnows have a real chance to get through. I'd be all for that.

having four good teams in one group would probably not happen often but if it did i think that would make the tournament a little more exciting from the outset, i just don't agree with making things easier for the better teams it should in my eyes be about LUCK OF THE DRAW.

Nah I don't agree purely because a World Cup only comes to your country once in a lifetime. It's different for watching it on the telly but if it's in your country as a fan you don't want that to be the one year where the random draw spoilt the tournament and of course the sponsors would be livid if it did happen that there was a blood bath for the big sides before the quarters. If you had a completely unseeded draw for every tournament it would fall that way every so often.

To me it just seems like helping out the better teams and as you say keeping the Money Men happy. I think that all the teams have had to earn the right to be at a tournament so why not show all teams the same level of respect and start on an equal footing.

    Agree. Totally.
Isn't that what a draw is all about. You get who you get. Yes we want to see a good final with good teams but lets not make it a cake walk for them.
England vs Italy now kicking off 11pm bst.
