Looks like the WC34’ is to be announced as Saudis later today being the only nation who’ve actually put their name in the hat.. shambles in my opinion but why are the FA not pushing for a World Cup on English soil?

Just shows that the new FIFA are as corrupt as ever.
No vote - just a round of applause when it’s announced <doh>
Another winter tournament with major disruption to European leagues, it might even be Jan/Feb to avoid clashing with Ramadan.

Didn't watch Qatar. Won't watch that.

No judgement against anyone who will. Just don't want any part of it.

That includes Henderson and the boxing etc.

Disagree with that mate. I'd say it's worse than ever. And, incredibly, even more blatant than before. Infantino was supposed to be an improvement on Blatter, but it turns out he's a huge upgrade. The whole thing has been gerrymandered to get it to Saudi, regardless.

We've done it mate, and been screwed over each time. 2010 we had a better bid than Germany, who did bribe to get it, 2018 enough said. In the end, enough members of FIFA hate us to vote for anyone but. I've learnt a lot about football and FIFA politics to know that. Germany generally play both ends against each other, France try to build up "friends" but have a fractious relationship with most African countries, Spain similar but with more top heavy corruption and patronage, most of South America is corrupt and don't trust us for being too honest (yes, really, we are compared to them).

I'm really quite pleased about this tbh, for two reasons.

Firstly the English pundits and players can, once again, display their incredible levels of shameless hypocrisy.

Secondly Newcastle United will become a reflected target of anger and revulsion of the country.

The club will either have to earnestly defend the Saudi state or deny any connection to the ruling family.

The first option would draw quite some flak and the second would eradicate any concept of sportswashing at the club.

It's a win win situation in my opinion ...

... and removes any last daft notion that the football authorities aren't totally corrupt.

I only discovered the other day that the name of the country is Arabia. It’s called Saudi Arabia as the name of the ruling family there is Saudi. That’s just a bit showy offy really.

Aye but at least it’s not named after the Windsors or Saxe-Coburg Gotha is it. I mean, Windsor Great Britain.

True, but I live in Western Australia. The name of the state is entirely functional in every respect and didn't have to be named after a monarch who was half German and who married one.

Disgusting decision by FIFA. I was always under the impression that the hosts have to have a legacy after hosting the WC that promotes and enhances the game. What happened in Qatar after they hosted… absolutely ZERO.
More brown envelopes changing hands in the ever corrupt world of FIFA.

Just wish UEFA would tell FIFA to f uck off and go it alone

I'm not surprised it's being held on Saudi, it's an open secret FIFA are corrupt as owt and just follow the money.

What's more ridiculous is 3 games will be played in Argentina , Paraguay and Uruguay on the other side of the world to the hosts for the 2030 world cup. Whose ****ing stupid idea was that! And more importantly how many back handers were involved.

    So much for carbon savings!

Sympathise with the sentiment, but I wouldn't trust EUFA any more than I would trust FIFA. This move by the Arab nations is fuelled by corruption.....not that anyone in any influence will step forward to agree from their newly aquired villas in Monaco.
