So WC to be held in November/December which would mean moving 80-100 PL games and is suggested will involve shifting 3 PL seasons (1 before and 2 after the WC). What a complete cock up!

Haven't even the option to opt out, since we can't deny the foreign players a chance to play for their countries even if England withdraw. (Interesting thought....could save us humiliation if we withdrew on principle :)). It will apparently finish 2 days before Xmas, but remember the players will have to have a couple of weeks off afterwards. The strain on players bodies will be immense.

They can't host it there in the Summer though, it's simply not feasible. My problem is how they got the WC in the first place. Feel sorry for Aussies USA as well who thought they were bidding for a Summer tournament. Surely they should re-vote??

Obviously they should. But they won't because Qatar would wheel out the legal team and FIFA would collapse under thousands of law suits. As you say, should never have gone there in the first place - the USA would have made a great place for the WC to continue the growth of the game there.
But, money talks - so Qatar got it ........ What I'd like to see (and it won't happen) is for all the "big" countries (Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, Austria, Croatia, Afghanistan and, maybe, England :emoticon-0105-wink:) boycott it - let an amateur team win it .............

Too busy stuffing their pockets with wads of cash to stop and think...'Say... playing football in the desert during summer might get a tad hot.'

It's an absolute joke. **** it, all European teams should boycott it. That would **** over FIFA. A World Cup without Spain, Germany, Italy, Holland, England, France etc would send a clear message.

This would never happen but I feel it would work, I wonder how much money Fifa make from Europe.

I bet we will have to suspend both cups in order to fit the league games in.

The problem is if European teams want to boycott, but they have players from countries that have not boycotted it. The worst thing is that Qatar getting it was always dodgy...don't tell me that there weren't benefits to the countries who voted for them.

The worst thing about this is I reckon the festive period will never return to the PL after this. That will be a sad day :(

Not sure what the big deal is tbh. It is the WORLD cup not European cup. Countries from outside Europe have had to change their domestic fixture list for years to accomodate for a summer tournament, European teams having to do it once has caused some up roar.

It would be nice to think that European Associations would make a principled stand, but it is unlikely. Much more likely in my opinion is the notion that European Elite Clubs could be tempted, if the right sponsorship deals are in place, to break away. This agenda has been on the cards for a long time.

But at least it's been a fixed date every year for decades, so any league disruption is now par for the course for those countries. And no denying that European league football is the real big deal of world football.
