**** Wales. Fair play to Italy for taking the moral high ground by refusing to score with 32 shots at goal and so avoiding going to Qatar.
Andy's international call up was well deserved - his first cap since 2015 A great role model to have at our club
JGF - as your sentiments towards Wales' victory last night doesn't seem to be shared by all, I thought I'd throw in something right up your street to get the discussion going on this thread. I wondered if you've noticed how many queen wasps there are about at the moment? Had the back door open with the lovely sunshine and 3 of them flew into into my kitchen yesterday. Twice the size of a normal wasp, the bloody things are looking to set up a nest this time of year - watch out mate.
'JGF - as your sentiments towards Wales' victory last night doesn't seem to be shared by all....' .. I share it. I'm England through and through but I'm happy to see Wales do well - unless they are playing England - or a win for them would negatively affect England in some way. My old dad is a proud Welshman, born in Barry (in the building that is now the Halifax Bank to be exact), so I have some 'blood of the fathers' in me. Bristolian and English first though.......
I was watching this last night and when the wife came in I said; 'look, Weimann's playing for Austria' She replied 'Oh no - that means he'll get injured playing for them and won't be able to play for us.........'! Thinking like a true club fan!!!
I thought Kane sounded like a village idiot answering questions about the Qatar World Cup. Oh yeh, as if by participating you might send a 'message'. Stinks. Zilch interest and wont be watching 1 minute of a shameful competition.
Money, greed, human rights violations and back handers dominate world football these days but regrettably that is fast becoming true about all things modern. Bah humbug and bring back the good old days when I went to Wembley to watch England win it all and life was brilliant.
Only seen 2 but SINCE END JAN seen 5 red ADMIRALS, last week 10 days 4 Brimstones and possibly 1 tortoiseshell. Bumble bee's now RED bums or white ones! .. seen about 6 or more WHITE TAILS ... 1 not the biggest managed a pic where I COULD WORK OUT ITS SIZE ... 15mm wide and 22mm long . . pic was a bit out of focus but estimate is likely bigger side . also had a load moth's last few days and a bat flying around in garden twice shows up white on cctv .... I am more SCOTS ORIENTATED .. but look out for Wales England and NI ... & eire!
At least 12 red admirals seen while walking around my local nature reserve today. Reminiscent of first lockdown with glorious April weather. I had never seen so many different types, shapes and sizes of butterfly .
Some over winter, been stuck in my house last couple of weeks but hope to go for a walk tomorrow ... in past few years the RA has been seen quite early in the year a sign it is successfully over wintering ... years past it was seen about May time. They seemed to arrive having mated.. and lay eggs on on nettles [ as do tortoiseshells ]. In june [ on a walk ] of the 2020 covid, I came across a patch covered with black caterpillars 3 days later now armed with a plastic box I was going to scoop up a dozen or so .. [ I have a tub with some nettles in it in garden ] to see what they hatched as! Someone had cut all the nettles / hedgerow and piled it up .. couldnt find them!!! Saw a speckled wood?? end of Feb ... only about 50% sure as was about 20 foot away ... amongst brambles they do pupate over winter so warm weather may have instigated it to hatch?
Went to drop of my mums mother day present and there was security on her apartments in the Vale for the Welsh football team. All they asked was are you going to the apartments, which I said yes. Great security give them the correct answer and you agree and get in. Saw Aaron Ramsey whilst I was there.
Just been up to put flowers on my Mam's grave and my brother sent me this to google. 'Spine Tingling Dafydd Iwan belts out Yma o Hyd before Wales vs Austria'. For Clingo and all my Welsh friends.
I have just watched Canada defeat Jamaica in freezing Toronto to book our spot at the World Cup 2022. Wild scenes at BMO Field when we returned to the tournament after a previous visit in 1986. This is the best Canadian squad I have ever seen and the win today was done without our star Alphonso Davies who did not play due to injury. Manager John Herdman has done a remarkable job with this squad which includes players like Junior Hoillett and I can't wait to watch them against the best in the world. I might even put some money on them to perform better than most pundits will say but whatever the outcome this is a fantastic day for all Canadians.
