Hard on Kasper, saved a pen from Modric at the end of extra time and 2 in the shootout. He couldn’t carry Denmark through on his own though. Eriksen and co let him down

Do some people seriously want Kasper replaced?

Surely not. Decent competition for him yes. He had a bad season last time out by his own high standards but he showed his class last night.

Absolutely not. He had a few off games last season but as they say, form is temporary....

Shinji on the bench for Japan tonight.

Yup - remember posting rumours linking him with Man Utd when De Gea was set to leave and there were quite a few "good riddance" type posts.

Kasper would be difficult to replace, as he's not only a pretty decent keeper, but he's also a big personality around the club. His only real weakness is that he should dominate the six yard box more. With all the protection that keepers get these days that should be easier than ever.

Would anyone swap our Premier League winning season for England winning the world cup?

I wouldnt in a million years but interested in what others think

Absolutely no way. I've far more passion for club football than international. The 'golden generation' of Beckham & co used to really agitate me as it seemed taken for granted we were superior to everyone due to our blinkered press. The involvement of Maguire and Vardy certainly has me taking more interest now.
Our title win is the greatest achievement in sporting history.

Not a chance. Wouldn't swap it for three world cup wins. Wouldn't even swap it for another title as nothing will ever surpass the first one.

Absolutely not. Greatest sporting achievement and upset ever. Totally unexpected, where previously with England we've had expectations unfulfilled. Nothing will ever surpass us winning the PL.

Theres shades of the Leicester season with this world cup squad with many other big sides failing.

Same as us round January 2016, if they are ever going to win it, this will be their best chance.

    ... also Vardys there ...

Was wondering why Vardy didn't take a penalty - was because he was injured and is a doubt for the quarters...

... largely agree but he has another weakness... shots (free kicks) from distant e into the top corner..

.... you mean those unstoppable ones right in the top corner?

It has been a largely enjoyable competition on the whole, but what FIFA must do is get the referees to stop all those shenanigans from the South American and 'lesser' teams. They set out to disrupt and cheat their way through matches against better opposition. The delays with the England penalties against Panama and Colombia were pure cheating. The referee should have booked all those players who were screaming at him and questioning his decision, and those who refused to get out of the penalty area to allow the kick to be taken. Colombia ought to have been down to 8 or 9 players by the end of the 90 minutes. I thought Cuadrado had been booked at least 3 times during the match. I couldn't believe he didn't get his first yellow card until extra time.

Nope - spcifically talking about the ones where he starts out of position and then can't get across to them ... I was being generous saying top corner <ok>

His positioning from free kicks is laughable sometimes, but you aren't going to find many better shot stoppers or distributors.

On Kasper, he has his faults as mentioned above but on in general is a great keeper and certainly tends to save more points that he costs.
For a club of our level we won’t get perfect, elite level. Kasper is probably in the top 6/7 GK’s in the league which is where we want to be as a club

I'd say he is even higher then that - in terms of actual goal tending, top 6/7 is about right but he is elite level in distributing the ball which puts him up to top 4/5 imo.
