So just 4 places left from the European sides to be decided in the play offs over the next week or so. Ties are:

    Croatia Vs Greece
    Northern Ireland Vs Switzerland
    Sweden vs Italy
    Denmark Vs Republic of Ireland

Who do you want/think will get through?

Would like to see both Irish sides get through but think the Northern Irish will struggle against the Swiss. Fancy the Republic against Denmark though.

Can't see beyond Croatia & Italy in the other ties.

I want the Irish teams to get through.

I hope Italy get through because they are a big footballing nation and you want the best teams there or we will get bored. Croatia for the same reason, they got some top players..but a part of me wants them to miss out so that I can laugh at Modric

Yeah I'm the same in that you want the big sides there, still doesn't feel the right that the Dutch haven't been at the last couple of tournaments.

Would be class for both the Irish sides to be there. Steven Davis captains the Northern Irish too so another reason to wish them well.

Always had a soft spot for the Dutch National team but they have been dire for the last decade. No real superstars anymore and with Robben on the way out.

Main players have withdrawn from the England team...give the bit part players a run out, that's nice.

Just realised Eriksen's Denmark are in the play off..I hope they beat the Republic and qualify..even though yesterday I was wanting both the Irish teams to do so.

Pussies probably got cramp in their widow's peak!

No pride in wearing the England shirt anymore. A sad state of affairs!

For players like Winks to pull out after only just being recognised is a disgrace imo.

He went off injured against Palace at half-time on the weekend. Alli didn't play and Kane got crocked, too.
It's also a couple of friendlies and Southgate's shown that he can't be trusted to manage this **** properly.

Unless he's got a broken leg mate I agree.

I know they're monitored to within an inch of their lives now but ffs it's supposed to be an honour to play for your country!

    Remember when it meant something?

If he's genuinely injured then fair enough, I suspect he could play though abs it's a bit convenient all of your players have picked up knocks at the same time <whistle>

    Your last sentence is irrelevant.

It is a couple of friendlies. Germany and Brazil. Not San Marino and Gibraltar.

A few years ago players would've given their back teeth to be involved in those games.

It wasn't very convenient during the Palace game. One wasn't in the squad and the other two went off injured.
My last sentence isn't irrelevant. Clubs won't risk players if the England coach can't be trusted. Why would they?

And now they're just largely pointless friendlies in the middle of a congested season, which is just about to get even more congested.
It's poor timing and teams are looking to pull their players out because of it.

This should be Southgate's opportunity to experiment and try out new things.
He has his Plan A. He should be trying to find Plans B, C, D and E. Pick new players. Try new tactics.
