Work to begin on Anfield expansion

Liverpool say they will begin work on Monday to increase Anfield's capacity from about 45,500 to 59,000.

The five-time European champions' £100m project can go ahead after they completed the purchase of the final house which will need to be cleared in order to make way for the expansion.

The first phase of the work will begin on the Main Stand, which will feature a new third tier, adding 8,300 seats.

The Anfield Road Stand will then be expanded to add a further 4,800 seats.

The work is expected to be completed in time for the 2016-17 season, and will significantly enhance the club's ability to garner matchday revenue.

i know this is good news, just wonder if the timing is convenient for jan window and the fact we have no money to spend without selling first it looks like, can say look where its gone.

I'm useless at making articles just thought I'd do one on this because it looks like at long last it's happening and news that the corporate capacity will double is interesting topic for conversation as well - or maybe not

 

For threads to be long and successful, there needs to be controversy to get the contents going.

Still hope there is a chance that it's possibly to increase further upwards once we get to 59k as by then we'll still only be level with Emirates and Etihad.
