Absolutely gutted for him and for us! There seems to be a new player curse around Portman Road this season. First Paul Taylor and now Wordy picking up lengthy injuries. We are obviously now in serious need of some creative midfielders so surely now an emergency loan is the answer? http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22500/wordsworth-may-miss-rest-of-the-season
Not fancying another loan as I doubt that there are many players available that are good enough, hard working enough and fancy the challenge of coming over to Ipswich so I think we need to stick with what we have unfortunately.. But that said Drury on his day is probably our most creative midfielder he just lacks consistency and it may well be time for JET to get some game time and a possible 'last chance saloon' for him as he really does have a point to prove
How about George Boyd from Peterborough? He obviously wants away from there and this could be the ideal solution!
Agree I think we could really do with getting a CM on loan now after Wordsworth Injury. Someone with a bit more creativity, someone like Wellens would be ideal for us currently IMO as he's solid experienced but good on the ball also with that added bit of creativity. Although I like the JET and Boyd, I really don't see them fitting into a McCarthy team, I doubt he would play them centrally where they are both suited which would mean putting them on the wing which doesn't really solve our problem!! Plus it would mean we have 6 domestic loans so who would you leave out of the team? for me after Chopras exploits I'd send McLean back and bring in a midfielder. Starting to look a poor decision in letting Luongo go back now, think he still certainly could've done a job for us.
That may be the case, but he is probably the only player in the Town squad who could be considered as a 'match winner' along with perhaps Chopper I think that Wordy's injury gives Drury another window back into the team as well as possibly Carson if we really are struggling so there may be a silver lining in this story somewhere..
Get well soon Wordy. Here's hoping we can get to May 4th and remain a championship club, no matter who we play where.
Glad to hear he wasn't more badly injured - it'll be one hell of a boring six weeks or so, but it could have been an awful lot worse.
