Tough one this if Stringer is not talking cr&p. He has a decent word on the ground of course. Hughes? Excellent record at all his clubs considering the respective situations at each whilst he was there. All managed in the top flight as well. Clarke? Superb recent form, displaying a real talent for sure. Hughes. Wrong division for him though? Too close, too difficult to conquer for his style? Has he got the, pardon the pun, spark needed to get the best out of only decent players, not Prem quality? Clarke. Too big a job at this stage in his career? Knows this sort of league football yes, but has he got necessary je ne sais quoi to get us up in 32 games, maybe, for sure? If true, right now I'd accept either in the role based against others suggested. Both would bring totally different positives and negatives to the club. Both, one or neither would succeed of course. It's like a spin of the coin. You call..... Heads or Tails? Sparky or Clarky?
Sparky! Clark has no experience of the Championship and hasn't got out of league one despite spending the most money in 3 years. I would not fancy us to get out of the Championship this season with him. Hughes is the solid choice. He got Blackburn punching well above their weight and did decent at Fulham too.
On the other hand, hughes has no experience of managing in this league... so if this is the case the owners stated profile of a manager who has experience in this league is BS...ive got a horrible feeling this appointment is going to be bungled...hope im wrong but i don't think the owners could spot a winner at a 100 yards...this is going to be a massive gamble..better the devil you know, keeps popping into my head...hope its not a panic choice...
It seems to me that our owners got some duff info a couple weeks ago. Somehow they thought that MoN would come back. They thought well you know Sven’s not pulling any trees up lets get rid and get MoN back then everything will be alright. Well when it came to it MoN changed his mind and turned us down. This left our owners in the stuck and searching franticly for a new manager. Why else would they sack a manager with a CV as long as his arm and who had just signed almost a complete new team then consider replacing him with a lge 1 manager who’s CV could fit on the back of a *** packet with no experience of managing some of these big time Charlie’s. Well we are where we are and for me the only two candidates would be Billy Davies or Alan Curbishley.
My gut feeling, today, is that either of the 2 would be a good appointment for our club longer term. Probably with Clarke pipping it in that regard. That said, we won't go up this season now. Felt like this last year and we didn't then either.
agree,up to a point..but i just can't see billy davies..derby/ forest reject being able to deal with the owners...i can't get over the fact that he has lost four playoff games and failed twice at forest.. won't move and will have half the fans against him from the start..subtle he ain't..
Forget the Derby/Forest thing I don’t really care about them the fact is that davies done pretty well at Preston/Derby and Forest on next to nowt. Yes there maybe an owner thing but our owners have to realise that they appoint a manager then let him get on with it. If its not working they sack him!
I suppose im getting fed up with recycled old sweats...I just feel we are better than that... but what will be will be...i can't understand the bloke, god help the thai's...good old leicester, sack in haste ,repent at lesiure....
The other option is to go and beg Pearson to come back. Only Leicester could let a manager walk out who just get promotion and play off place in successive seasons.
Never a dull moment hey! Thank god i don't support Man Utd same manager for a generation always winning, dull or what?
great, then he can bring ,fryatt hobbs, waggy...and nobby back....and i will just imagine i have been in a coma for 18 months...
It's a bit different this time though, we already have a squad good enough to finish in the top 2, unlike this time last last season, and we are only 5 points off the play-offs, compared to 8 last season. If we make the right appointment I can still see us getting in the play-offs. I'm less confident with Clark though, and we can't afford to wait 3 seasons for him to get it right.
Whoever it is needs to be extremely strong minded and have exceptional man management skills because im not sure how many of this squad are here to play for LCFC or are/were here to play for Sven?
The point is , nobody comes with a guarantee...patience will be needed, the one thing our owners don't have...how long does the new bloke have? more than sven or less? and if it is more, then why not give that extra time to the man who was in place and knew the situation..so basically the new manager has till the end of the season tops if we don't make the playoffs... ludicrous.. but thats what we have come to...
Well, that is the question. Personally, I think the expectation should still be the play-offs at this point. The new man should be given as long as Sven no doubt, but of course, specific circumstances can make a difference. Top may have got some stick for sacking Sven too early but I can't imagine the next manager will be sacked the end of the season, unless we finish lower than we are at the moment. Make no mistake, there are much harder jobs to come into in the Championship, and whilst I don't expect perfection early on, I do expect us to start climbing the table within a couple of months, and there is still plenty of time for him to get his ideas across and get us on a roll. If we do fail, like Sven, he will be forgiven, but he will be expected to take us up next season.
unfortunately, i can see a repeat of last season..but worse..the new man has to work with players he might not want or rate. Alot have come cos of sven,so will they be disposed to to give of their best for the new bloke..and if not? more loan signings before the new year?..then upheaval again!..new players in...etc..a ready made and understandable excuse...but last year the squad was smaller...plus 7 on the bench...a fair few are not going to take kindly to being overlooked again by manager two...with the obvious implications...for me this is a real mess and a recipe for a shambles...sorry.
Well ive said so before that mark hughes would be a great manager here. I mean what a fantastic replacement in a time of uncertainty angst etc. Mark hughes is a premiership boss and will sure up the team in january. I think clarke is too risky, will he really attract quality players? Will they respect him? Please mark hughes sign it! And i cano'ou stand billy davies accent whatsoever!
What as Mark Hughes achieved? walked out on Blackburn to go to Man City which left a bitter taste in the Old Trafford fans that idolised him as a player! got sacked. Went to Fulham, and just walked out on them when he thought he might get a bigger job! No thank you, would not want him at KP so that he could use us to enlarge his already over inflated ego.
