** far too many in that race, the adverse tides/autumnal gales makes it the toughest amateur offshore race (personal experience some 45 years ago, crew.)

Only as a crew member, bit of muscle on one of the winches.
Was on a BP Sailing Club boat (48 footer)Had a 25ft Sadler (yacht) back in the day. Nice boat & could sail it single handed. Furthest distance offshore...Dover - Wissant (Plas de Calais)

Daylight only and terrifying, so much seriously heavy traffic. Only once !!

My Dad spent virtually all his career working for BP in Llandarcy. He played soccer a few times for BP U.K. v BP Germany

Talking of my family - my Sister has - within the last hour - told me that earlier this afternoon she has been diagnosed with an inoperable and incurable cancerous liver tumour.....

She’s seeing a Consultant in Southampton on Monday.....
