El-Hadary trained with us today, but hasn't been offered a deal yet.

Pusic is out for Saturday with a hamstring injury.

I know we are trying to bring in a few new players, but would it have been more pertinent to have them signed before the Reading game? It doesn't really matter that Pusic is out, NP would rather have Adebola/Dawson/Barmby on the bench. I think it's a shame, the lad was a bright spark in the Macclesfield game, apparently looked good last night before he got injured, so hope to see him playing very soon!

I'd rather see one of the two come in and Harps leave. You'd think both have something about them, having been at Chelsea and Madrid, especially Fernandez, staying with them until 21. Apparently not.

I love the way people comment on wanting them after seeing one reserve game at best and at worst never having seen them play. And werent Jamie Woods and David Brown at Man Utd until around that age?!

And you're also assuming there that someone would take Harper. Im pretty sure if someone came in for him we would let him go.

I love the way people complain about comments like mine. Granted I haven't seen either of the lads play, but the fact that we even had him on trial in the first place says something for the lads.
I assumed that they would be reasonable considering where they came from, and that Woods cost Chelsea £5m not so long ago. Granted he was never going to be a world beater but I thought he might at least be okay to get in on a free, with low pay, to see how it pans out.

Is that such a terrible thing? I'm so sorry I offended you. <doh>

I wonder if we have released these two because we have more money to spend now Bullard has gone? Maybe NP is now able to look at higher level players.

I would love to agree but I don't think so. Apparently the Allams' gave NP a wage budget, but Bullard was not included, he was sort of named as 'Extra Expenses' and therefore his departure does not make a difference to our budget.

Yeah, franky. You effectively stated that you'd prefer someone you have never seen play and has a handful of games under their belt than someone who has featured dozens of times in our first team and has hundreds of high level games under his belt.

Chelsea went for Woods when he was 16. Big clubs get thousands of young kids on their books, basically anyone who shows any promise as a young lad. pProbably 5% of those go on to do ANYTHING in the game.

We all seem so desperate for a decent player that we'll take anyone.

You only have to look at the fact that Leeds got Andy Lonergan for £150,000 to see that a little bit of transfer-market nous goes a very long way.

Could it be we can spend some cash now Bullard has left?

We need players which will improve the team so I'm happy Pearson hasn't signed them on for the sake of it.

Initially thought that Pearson and Co had real "nous" in the transfer market based upon the press that came with them. Not so sure now about there talent spotting ability. There signings seem to be somewhat hit and miss, suppose though that they are all never going to be blockbusters.

Isnt every manager's signings "hit and miss"? I remember Alex Ferguson saying if you you hit a 50% success rate on signings you're doing well.

I honestly think we're doing very well. I know some slate McLean but when he came into the team last season we scored noticeably more goals, it doesnt matter one jot that he wasnt getting them and I want him to be given a 10 game run with Fryatt. The only signings Id say look bad value thus far are probably Evans and Dudgeon but it's still early doors for them.

There is no point offering a deal to these two playetrs if they are no better than what we have got. I would hope that any new signings would be good enough to get into our team now and not warm the bench at best. A reserve game against a young side is not the best way to judge them but I expect the decision was made before last night.

having watched last night and on that performance, be it down to the lack of pre-season or other, i think they do not have enough about them. woods will surface at somewhere like bradford whilst the spanish kid needs to get rid of a £100k albatros around his neck before he goes anywhere in the uk
