Good all round deal? Spurs get him off the wage bill, Stoke get a player on a pay to play basis, Woodgate gets another chance. I wish him well, such a shame that his injuries prevented him from becoming what would have been a great career.
Good luck to him. Hope he does well there, though I think it was the right time for him to leave Spurs, as we couldn't justify having both Woodgate and King in the squad.
Good luck to him, he scored a winning goal for us at Wembley so will always get a good welcome from the fans.
And who would they have left, Piskie? King and Woodgate would both have been out on those grounds too, as would Rooney, Wilshere and pretty much the whole squad! I think it would send out the right message and improve things in the long run, especially as most of the current bunch don't seem to give a crap, but the FA aren't brave enough to do it.
I don't really see why we didn't offer him a pay-as-you-play deal. It was worth a shot IMO. He's probably a good influence to have around the place.
On his day (especially at Wembley against Chelski) he was a top, top player, wish him all the best and I hope he doesn't regret playing on in later life
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxZRuOiZfLw&feature=related Cheers Mr Woodgate - great defender - hope he gets back into the game at some point
I'm inclined to agree Piske. Both great pros, both make the game look easy. When you think of the donkeys out there who have had long, injury free careers, it's a crying shame.
Woodgate was "off" Spurs wage bill 2 days ago and as joined them as a free agent. Best of luck Woody, won't forget the header!
I lost track of the date, he actually left 4 days ago on the 7th, and yes it is 'effectively' a pay as you play as Pulis described it. He is also quoted saying 'we believe' if his fitness is managed 'properly' he'll play games....good luck with that one!
