Simon Grayson said he was knocked back for Puncheon, Lichaj and one other Premier League player and I have finally found out who. Nile Ranger a striker from Newcastle, the reason the plug was pulled wasn't our fault this time, it was because Pardew wanted some sort of commitment to buy at the end of the loan deal for 1.5 million. Not sure how that would have worked and the lad hasn't done anything to warrant that kind of valuation. Just for reference several news sources all confirming this was the lad one of many starting to appear http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_7150381,00.html
Ranger is valued at £1.5 million by Newcastle who are said to be unhappy with the player over his off-the-field antics. Just what we need, more off field antics to contend with eh
Don't know why they'd expect a commitment to a deal, especially when they have revealed his off field 'antics' are a problem. Surely it'd be in their interest to let him go, and then if he does well a club would be inclined to sign him permanently. Glad we didn't get him.
Im sure they do want a deal to take him, in a team that included Joey Barton he stood out as the one likely to be arrested. I would have thought they would be giving him away...
we were after ranger but you really need to check him out he is a definite do not touch with a barge pole player probably the reason pardew insisted on you guys commiting to a deal is because he knew you would not want him and would send him back..
Seemed strange loan him for a season then you have to buy him for 1.5 million why not just sell him outright from the start.
