I hope they are rubbing their hands to snatch control from Stewart Donald. This club needs structure from top to bottom. We need direction and purpose as a club and an on field identity that’s runs through our youth setup, to the first team. Unfortunately I can’t see this from Stewart Donald’s tenure.
He's been cutting costs since he walked through the door, but tbh I think we needed to cut costs. It would have been a massive gamble if he hadn't.
I don't think it matters right now. The biggest fallacy throughout this whole thing has been the idea that they're going to do anything quickly, or that there's a button Donald can push mark 'cut my losses' without incurring huge issues. I also think that even if he did, the further down the ladder we are at that point, the more inclined they may be to flip us. I think while they're astute, they're up for a challenge etc, there are always limits to that and I suspect one of their big concerns will be getting the right leadership in place. That's much easier if we're in the championship, as there's a lot of crossover between experience in that division and experience of the Premier League. The further down we go, the harder it is to find people with the right tools to get out of the lower leagues and compete in the Premier League. Said it for a while, but anyone expecting them to be knights in shining armour if we're failing might be disappointed down the line.
what's that big building behind the baths anyhow, whats the purpose ? short should have sold us in the premier league, that's a warning to other teams, look at WHU they could be in our position in 2 years.
A possible scenario but if right it would probably be better for SD to pay the debt and carry on, although highly likely this would put him in an impossible position with the fans imo. Your damned if you do and damned if you dont. He's a business man and wants to make money so obviously it pays him to make us successful, I also think he genuinely has a passion for it too otherwise why risk it.
It went downhill when Keano left. He was the only one who instilled the fear of God in the rotton core. Him and Berb would be a great manager - chairman double act, still hoping that they'll come back
As I've said, cost cutting starting with short have made us worse season on season, but who else was there that Donald could trust? We ain't bottomed out yet and this window as Allardyce said is always a hard one to get right
After freefall Donald came in and stopped the rot and with Ross had us heading in the right direction. Unfortunately we stalled and rightly or wrongly Ross was sent packing and now we've took a step back. We aren't in the prem anymore but some seem to think we are a prem club. The longer we're here the harder it looks to get out and just because we are a big club it doesn't make it easier imo. The expectations could be overbearing for some . Its hard to pin hopes on Parky atm considering he has a lower win ratio than Wilko. 10 more games i think will equal Wilko's tenure. If he's not got us going by then he surely has to go. If he does, great.
He saw dollar signs and a way ( in his mind ) of making a quick quid. Buy it cheap, cost cut, make a success and flog at a profit. Nothing more nothing less. He was taken in by the initial adulation and believed that he could turn a bigger quid than originally envisioned. He's a small businessman with big ideas. Fair enough, but he is way over his head right now Flogging insurance with a PA and a couple of cold callers is much different to running a football club. You are attributing way too much ability and credibility to someone who is a tyre kicking chancer
Y Yes it went downhill after keane left. £60m debt due to buying crap players that had no resale value. Not to mention the long term liabilities of their wages that short had to make up season after season long after keane left. Keane failed with us, and failed badly ( really really badly ) at Ipswich. This swooning about an abject managerial failure baffles me.
I don't believe that for a second. I've come across several non-league club owners, from a similar level to Eastleigh, where Donald came from. The best of them do it out of altruism, due to a love of their community, a love of their club, or a love of football. The worst of them do it for their own egos, to be seen as a big fish in a small pond, and for the adulation from the fans. I've not come across one who is in it to make quick money. So, for all his faults, I don't believe that Donald is doing any of this for money. For his ego? Maybe. For his love of the game? Maybe. To increase his wealth? Never.
What a mug you are Stewrat and salmon trousers came here for a quick buck by getting us promoted and selling the club to the first bidder for a healthy profit They envisaged heading off into the sunset with a suitcase full of cash and if you think they bought the club out of altruism you've got another thing coming It's amazing that people still believe SD bought Sunderland out of the goodness of his heart Buy people a pint in the colliery and they'll never hear a bad word said about you
