I think it’s more the physicality and power the women are, and will always remain, behind the men. I’ve been really impressed with some of the technical aspects of the women’s games. The volley that James scored was technically brilliant, the diagonal passing by Bright on occasions has also been impressive.

The turn, the drive forward and pass by Hemp for our 3rd against the Aussies was outstanding, when considering the timing, the last 10 mins or so in a World Cup Semi final, when Australia are really coming onto us , and causing us problems that’s really impressive to be able to remain calm and produce that kind of skill under enormous pressure, that’s quality.

I still prefer the pace and power of the men’s game though personally.

You're right Angelic - that's what I meant. I should not have used the word 'technical'. Bad use of words on my part. Technically they are very capable of matching the men, but they will never match power and strength.

well what ashame but it was a interesting game to watch, some real scrappy bits and also some very fine tricks and some very reactive actions ....
I made a comment to my next door neighbour yesterday ... Sweden beating the hosts dosent bode well for England!
didnt think much of the ref at times should have sent that Spanish player off but realised a second card would be mean a red and bottled it! ?

A second yellow should have been given to the already booked Spanish player towards the end of the match as she deliberately delayed the play by throwing the ball away. She then proceeded to do it again just a few minutes later but did not get the required second yellow followed by a red card. Frankly I think the better team won and Spain were miles ahead of anything England could produce.
