So the first games of the Women's Super League were yesterday and the first televised game (Chelsea v Doncaster) is about to begin on ESPN! Are you following the league? Who are you supporting?

Well, I hope Doncaster Ladies team play rather better than the Men's team.

Wonder if there is a Mrs Diouf, by any chance..........<laugh>

The final score was Chelsea 3 - Doncaster 1. They played okay, but Chelsea were definitely the better team and said they'd win even at 0-0. There was one stage at 2-1 when they were besieging the Chelsea goal though but didn't manage to score. The final Chelsea goal came in stoppage time so it wasn't as one sided as it may sound.

I agree it's a shame there aren't any southern teams in the WSL except for Chelsea and Arsenal.

It's good to see the new WSL get some more interest and media coverage. Pompey's team have nearly finished their season and are third in the Southern Division (1 below the WSL), no promotion on offer though of course.

Did you know that Saints Ladies were dominant in the 70's and reached 10 of the first 11 FA Cup Finals, winning 8 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FA_Women's_Cup. Sadly the team was dropped when we were relegated from the Premiership and isn't associated with the club any more.

Portsmouth need 2 points from 2 games to guarantee promotion, I hope they do it!

On the subject of Saints Ladies, our manager used to be manager of Saints Ladies coincidentally.
