My wife just asked me why I continue to put myself through this after so many years. I said I'm only 54. She frowned.

Then she offered to pay for a series of hypnosis sessions so that I can support Barcelona, or Man Utd, or any team as long as it won something from time to time.

    Women. They don't know ****.

'Women. They don't know ****' - Are you sure ?

Both my children are City fans and the older I get the more I wish I'd encouraged them to support a 'Man Utd'.
They were the only kids in school with City shirts, I was so proud at the time - what a twot I was.

But for a few years in the 70's and a season in the Championship (Nepotism ruined even that) it's been one long guts ache.

I've a grandson coming along in November - I won't make the same mistake with him.

Thanks SOD, you've made my mind up.

My wife said to her friends that when I come home from matches she could not tell from my mood if City had won or lost.

She went on to say it's probably because he supports such a rubbish team that he's used to failure - OUCH!!!

And with the massive inequality in TV revenues now, we are likely doomed to many, many more years of the doldrums which will only serve to erode the younger fanbase who will want some success which we cannot deliver....... Really makes you wonder why any youngsters would want to be City or Rovers fans when there is so much more glamour on offer??
