My Chalkboard/Opta Stats review of the Wolves game: http://wearepremierleague.com Twitter: @We_R_PL http://www.twitter.com/We_R_PL Lots of positives and 2nd highest number of shots this season (after Sunderland game). I'd hate to think we'd lose our shape like we did for their second too many times this season and there's more than enough talent in the team for us to stay up.
Interesting as always, DB. A few things stand out but why are we so poor at set pieces, particularly corners? We get little from our own and often concede from them. An interesting stat I saw today was Allen has had more shots (four) without missing the target than any other Premier League player this season.
Well you say only 3 of his 11 corners were 'successful'. What is the definition of 'successful' with regards a corner?
Successful is when the ball goes to a member of the same team, so I guess there are different levels of unsuccessful corners, such as going out for a throw as well as being cleared by a defender for another corner. As with most statistics you start off with a viewpoint (his crosses seemed too gentle and just lofted in) and then I looked for the stats to prove it!
Great article again. Shots in the last 15 minutes 9-1 to Wolves in a game we dominated??? As I suggested on another thread, imo this has to be down to our team's lack of fitness. That's my take on it but I'd be happy to read any views to the contrary.
I've added a new post on my blog http://wearepremierleague.com which looks at the last 20-30 minutes of the game in a bit more detail. There's a fair bit on there but ultimately boils down to the fact that come about 70 minutes I think we panicked, the controlled passing went and too many passes back to Vorm. Regarding the post above in relation to positioning at corners, if you look at the first image on the piece on the blog, there's plenty of defenders back but some of them are miles away (or the wrong side) of any Wolves player.
