Wolves cannot complain...

  1. It's true, Nolan may have stopped Wolves getting an equalizing goal in the first half, even though Simpson was back, it was a 2v1 situation.

    However, Elokobi elbowed Lovenkrands in the back of the head in the box early in the first half, and we should have had a pen.

    I just finished watching the first half on Football First.

    We'll be without Nolan for Villa and Man United, but i'll be happy with Tiote and Guthrie CM anyway.

    <ok>

    To be fair saw the Nolan incident at the game and it wasn't intentional, so probably shouldn't have been a yellow

    After four days of peace, normal service is resumed and the articles are dropping off the conveyor belt at a rapid rate of knots again.

    Villa would anybody complain with maybe a midfield of Richardson, Guthrie, Barton, Jonas

    or Jona, Barton, Guthrie, Ferguson

    ^ Would be great to see Richardson have a chance but of the two I think Ferguson would be the safer bet for now.

    Ryan Taylor is back from his ban for the villa game so I'm guessing we will go Raylor, Barton, Guthrie and Guti in the midfield.

    I hope we don't - Villa are strongest on the left side so we need a stronger right side. As we need Barton centrally, it has to be Guti on the right and Raylor should be nowhere near the side.

    But if Enriques still out, or Fergusons injury yesterday leaves him out, who do you play left wing? Ryan Taylor isn't half as bad as people make out, he can't play right back anymore but he can certainly accomplish the Joey Barton 'right wing but not right wing' role in the absence of any alternatives. Plus he can take the corners and direct free kicks.

    Yes, if either Enrique or Ferguson is out then yes we have no choice other than to play Raylor - in that scenario I would play him on the left wing and Guti on the right as thats where we will need the more defensive protection. If Ferguson and Enrique are fit then Raylor will be on the bench

    I'd be happy enough playing Raylor on the right, he can offer defensive support to Simpson, being a former defender. I think If Enrique is fit then Ferguson wont play, Pardew seems to think it's a bit early for him.

    Which side do we need more protection on? Raylor offers enough protection to cover Villa not actually playing a recognised left back (Houlier not fancying Warnock at all), and can cross from that side. Why play both out of position, even if Jonas is supposedly stronger on the right?

    Ashley Young - especially considering how much Simpson backs off and as mentioned by someone else, defensively Raylor is not that good. Plus Villa play Downing on the right so he will cut inside more being left footed and hopefully Raylor could actually do more defensively here

    Raylors perfectly adequate defensively if he's on the wing. Much as Jonas grafts and chases, he's not great at tracking his runner, whereas Raylor is more disciplined for that. Either way they can effectively double up on Ashley Young as Luke Young isn't going to achieve a lot on the left.
