Living 8 miles from Wolverhampton, me and a mate, wagged the day off school to go to the ground to buy some tickets for this game, got into W'ton bus station only to see our head of year waiting to catch the bus in the opposite direction. He came over to us and said where are you going, when we told him, he said get them as quick as you can and get to school pronto and don't tell anyone I've seen you, or words to that effect, he knew I was obsessed. When we got back, he came up to us at lunch break and asked if we'd managed to get the tickets, which we had. Unfortunately in with the Wolves fans in the South Bank, I nearly got a kicking when I jumped up when we scored, only the local accent saved me.
Heidi, do you remember the Boxing day 1977, game at Wolves, there was a public transport strike, so many fans weren't able to travel, only about 1000 Leeds made it. They were running at us all day, scary day that one.
if its the same match that i went to wolves 0 leeds utd 1 and eddie gray scored , and leeds went on to play man utd in the semi final not sure if it was that game but i went to that match and was sat in the long side stand and all through the game leeds utd and wolves fans were having a go at each other , tony currie was playing for leeds and i think arthur graham , i also went to the semi final leeds utd v man utd leeds were unlucky not to draw level , we arrived at the ground 15 mins late and leeds were 2-0 down after half time alan clarke myname sake sniffer scored from the penalty spot 2-1 then with 10 mins left he just could not stretch enough to get a cross that would have made it 2-2 but we lost 2-1 in the end , amazing but scary days .
We were on the coaches and in the seats for that one I think so managed to stay away from any trouble. Think the ones in the South Bank weren't so lucky?
