A slightly earlier match preview, having computer issues which means likely to be without the thing for most of the week. A fixed anniversary fixture due to the league being 125 years old. First up Wanderers looking for a third straight relegation(won't happen). New manager in Kenny Jackett, not sure what kind of side they will put out, some top earners have been left out of the squad to train with the youth team, however they will have some decent players on show. They are also being rewarded for a 2nd seasons ineptitude by being £16 million parachute payment from the Premier League (unfair in my view), they should walk the league but how will they do at Crawley on a wet Tuesday night. As for us, looks like it Davies and Hume up front, Buchanan at left back, Rudd in goals, Welsh and Keane in midfield, Clarke right back wingers Holmes and Humphreys. It's time bring it on. Hopefully a match blog next Saturday, if this thing is working.
This will set down a marker for the restof the season...not necesarily a win, considering their squad, but a decent show and at least a draw. A win would be highly rated. Some were saying on LEP that Davies looked heavy legged in the second half against 'Dale but the Hume looked very lively. As for the LEP, there is a lot of troulbe with the modurators. For instnce, I was not allowed to name a famous ladies football team in Prestion because it had the name D**K, Kerr. (I used to live a hundred yards from the factory on Maudland.) Howeveer, some trouble makers have posted obnoxious remarks about the troops at Fulwood barracks. There is a struggle to get any football debate there. Hope you see a good match, Maclad and look forward to your blog.
Try me best Barnet, expect the side to be Rudd, Clarke, Wright, Huntington, Buchanan, Humphries, Keane, Welsh, Holmes, Hume and Davies
A typical early season game inside a rather warm football ground as Preston North End and Wolverhampton Wanderers fought out a 0-0 draw at Deepdale in front of 16500 fans of which 4923 came from the Midlands. In truth there was little in the way of goalmouth action with both keepers having a relatively easy afternoon. Wolves shaded the first half having a Griffiths shot headed from the line by Welsh and Ricketts hitting the bar direct rom the corner, North End contained the visitors without really creating much danger. A flurry of injuries at the start of the 2nd half disrupted play, but Wolves soon were back on the attack when a misdirected Holmes pass sailed narrowly past his own goal which led to Wolves forcing a series of corners. Once this onslaught was over North End got on top with the evr impressive Kevin Davies leading the line for the home side, chances were few but Davies was denied by a great bit of defending. The heat started to takes it toll as the game drifted towards the end. Fair result both sides will be up in the mix at the end of the season, on a personal view, glad we've got Wolves out of the way, they will get better.
