Anybody visited Molineux before? Is it safe to wear team colours around Wolverhampton?

I visited Wolves when we were in the Championship, the season we wore blue and black hoops I believe so 2004? Anyway being quite young at the time both myself and my dad wore our club colours along with a lot of other Gills fans and I cannot remember a reason why I would advise you not to do so. I remember the Wolves fans being quite hostile once in the the ground but not in a malicious or threatening way, simply getting behind the team. However after the match we did get lost and wandered around Wolverhampton looking for the car and there were a few slightly awkward moments but nothing too extreme. To put it simply gfc1234, if your simply driving or getting the coach up, parking, watching the game, going back to the the coach/car (if you can remember where it is) and going home then there is no reason to worry. However if your planning on going into the city centre before or more importantly after the game then I personally would take a hoodie with you just in case.

Cheers gfclukey..coming up on the train from Milton Keynes! I suppose when you have worn colours at Millwall and around Blackbird Leys in Oxford, then it shouldn't be so bad, but thought I would ask anyway!

One of my mates got clouted by a few youths on the way back to the coach last time. It was one punch and they legged it so it is unclear if it was a football related incident. Either way Wolverhampton isn't the nicest place so caution is advised, most away day websites suggest covering up just in case

Also just remembered that now they are a league 1 club, there will hardly be any of them at the match! I swear I've heard rumours of a lot of fans boycotting this season or at least the first match in protest against the running of the club!

Might have posted the link to this site before, but I use it a lot as I get to far more away games than home ones :

    http://www.footballgroundguide.com/index.html

Difficult to predict how the fans will react to being in division 3 for the first time since the 1980's. Could be a 'we're too good n hard to be here n we'll show you what we can do', or it's only football so let's have some fun while we're here', or many stops inbetween.

The comments on the football ground guide site are not too unfavourable - seems like if you don't go looking for trouble you'll be unlucky to find it.
