... televised performance from Bristol City I have ever seen. We are usually average to boring when on the box, but last night showcased the epitome of our season so far. Away from home on a cold night far from home, that was a special win, especially given the total domination and dictation we had over Petsrborough. Some worryingly eye catching performances from Little, Freeman, and Smith last night, no doubt making their money grabbing agents probably rubbing their hands together! An almost complete performance, I would say, but Cotts was right, we should have taken our chances to bury the game much earlier. Never been prouder to have shown people round the country (and maybe the world) how talented this group is.
That first half was fantastic......should have been 5-0 by half time. And what about that turn and shot from Pack that hit the bar!
I didn't catch the name of the commentator but I said to the Mrs just listening to him purring over how great we was to watch, was so refreshing to hear. The way he kept saying our play on the ball was fantastic but off the ball we was so organised. And when he said if this was the premiership that shot from Pack would of been talked about for weeks. Just shows he appreciates all games not just the premiership.
Yep, great performance, had a sneaky £10 on Freeman to score the first goal too (£130 return). In the pub where I was it was all ' Peterboro are so poor' Well I reckon we made them look poor, another good team performance all round, (well done Pack on a great display. You might get a bit of credit for it?) I said a month or so ago We would see how good this side is after a defeat, well it took 2 defeats but you can't argue with that. So nice to watch the Saturday football today after that with no pressure on..
Gotta say really impressed with Cotts. I like the way he sets out his team and the type of football he wants to play. I thought we looked quite solid at the back too. Fielding still a concern but all in all a really good performance from the lads. For me Little, Freeman and Smith stood out but the whole team can be proud. First half closing down their defenders was first class leading to them making so many mistakes.....Spot on tactics Cotts!!
We do look a little vulnerable down the left hand side to direct breakaway teams when Joe Bryan has bombed on, but hey. Williams deals with in mostly. (Preston badly exposed this) it only happens from an odd mis-placed pass or loss of possession so I'll live with it.
Karl Robinson said the system we play is a credit to Cotteril as he don't have the players to be able to play that way. Flinty has come on loads since his injury and is like a rock at the back. Fielding made one mistake which is what I suppose is what sticks in people's mind, but I think he's improving all the time.
I think it was Garry Birtles. He was very appreciative of our play and was in his day a fine player himself
Totally agree ROD, the commentator was just oozing praiseworthy comments throughout, it was a miraculous change to the irritating humdrum monotone slatings of Peter Beagrie. As for what Karl Robinson said, he could have ALL the players we have, as this is not an expensive team on astronomical wages like previous years. For a change we are getting more than what we have paid for out of the squad as a whole. That's credit to Cotts again for bringing in gems he knows will do the business for him!
Just felt the need to check that all these oozing comments are about the team that I have supported all my life and gone through hell and high water to get my satisfaction. After the recent 2 losses this was exactly what the doctor ordered and we did it with flair, style and passion to show the doubters that they are supporting a good squad that, unless the wheels fall, off could get promotion this season. How wonderfully those words roll off the tongue and full credit to Cotts for his footballing savvy to get it right on the nose when it came to team selection and tactics, so don't listen to the excuses that Posh were very poor because those types of games can be difficult to get the right result. Full marks to all concerned.
banksy...........i also said the big test would be after we lose. well that was emphatically answered last night..................SUPERB BOYS!!!!!!!! CTID
Last night was so so important,we dealt with it in the best possible way, completly brushing boro away. Now to get through December on another good run.
Agree with all the above, such a refreshing change to hear the commentator waxing lyrical over City rather than Peter Beagrie's constant put downs, even he would have struggled to find any negatives in that performance. I also thought the ref had a very good game he was on top of every decision and let the game flow, again a refreshing change to see such a good display from a ref at this level, long may it continue
